I think a strong case could be made for Akeem Auguste.
We lost a couple guys at CB. It's imperative that Auguste gets back to his normal, healthy self and provides the leadership needed at the CB position. We all know what he's capable of, and we know the talent that Vic Hampton supplies on the other side, but Hampton can't necessarily be counted on to be a leader, although we have seen him tone down his antics recently. Losing Gilmore and Markett, we need guys that can lock down WR's. We definitely have the players that can do that, but it's necessary to have upperclassman leadership on the field and not put too much pressure on the younger guys.

Really nervous about corner this year. If we can get production there then the defense should be super. They are very talented, just worried about proven depth.

Don't take this the wrong way because you bring up a valid point but....how far have we come if your primary worry is the back up DB spots?!!!

I see Clowney as being pivotal. The defense has lost some playmakers on that side. I believe the offense will be sound, probably better than we have ever seen so the defense needs Clowney to be that best SEC type end causing havoc running a muck. Playmaker on our defense

Hard to argue with WG's top 5 but if I had to change one, I'd change Yates with Ace. Ace is looking to be that go to guy at WR and having someone you can really rely on there is very important.

Hampton looked great at times last year, and word is Christian has the chance to be special... I am feeling pretty good about DB's this year...

I agree with Ledcock. If Ace can become the primary target on a lot of pass plays, where defenses have to address the fact that they cannot stay with him with one guy , that will open up the run game.

I am a little concerned with CB but not a whole lot. It will be hard for a QB to throw from his back and I think Quarles, Clowney or Taylor can make this happen more than not. I think teams may try to throw a bit but if they take too many 5 - 7 step drops, Clowney or Taylor will be in their face or on top of them. With Ward being more aggressive the quick passes could be a problem but that is handled with press coverage.

That and it might lead to some mismatched one on one's with a streaking Byrd or Bruce for the deep ball.

I would put 'The Other DT' on this list. I'm not worried about Quarles, I'm worried abou whoever plays beside him. Their performance will be key.

No, but my name isn't Tony either, however Imo if we can get get the newcomers up to par with what we have coming back then we should be fine. I can bet Bama, LSU, and Arky have guys coming back and backing them up that they feel strong about in terms of their upcoming season.
