I expect 50 responses to this debating who the top five receivers (in terms of catches) will be this year. I already disagree with myself.

I think Shaq is too talented to leave off of this list. At some point in the season, all of the pieces will come together and this guy will see a lot of action.

John; can you take the total number of catches your predicting for the team and then break it down by player. I think this better projects the levels of each receiver in terms of importance.

That's a little tough. I would think Ace would be around 45 catches or so, Lattimore around 30. I think Adams, Ellington, and Anderson will all be around 20. I think Cunningham, Miles, Byrd, and Roland will all be around the 15 mark. Personally, I think South Carolina is going to end up throwing the ball a lot more this year than last year and more than most people are projecting. I could be way off, but I think the offense will be a little more pass-happy this year than last since the quarterback knows what he's doing.

I like these numbers.......See Ace with about 8 TDs, Byrd with 5 TDs, and TEs combining for about 10 TDs.

First of all, I hope our players aren't restricted to certain receiving positions. The best players should play. With Shaq playing better than most I'm optimistic our coaches won't bench him.
Secondly, here's who led reception yards last year, followed by the next 5, in order.

How is Jerrell Adams in a TE body? He is taller than Alshon but weighs less than Alshon played last year. If he is this athletic, put him out at WR and let him go catch some passes especially in goal lines situations. 5 WR sets would work just fine and he blocks like a beast as well from what i have read in the fall practice reports.

If Connor Shaw is throwin the ball no more than 25 times a game, then this is accurate, as these guys will probably log the most plays of all skill-position players. However, if Spurrier is lookin at airin it out more (more 4 wide or true 5 wide sets) then you could see byrd and/or D.L up there. also, wondering if the coaching staff will count touches for Lattimore this year or at least at the beginning of the season

There just is no need. I think if they want Ellington to run it, they will just do a jet sweep, or a screen pass to him.

2) Bruce
3) Anderson
4) Byrd
5) toss up between Adams and Marcus.

1 & 2 are spot on. After that it gets tough with bruce Byrd and shaq plus 3 really good TEs. Wouldn't even know where to start.
Pretty crazy that 21 is probably our best receiver.

I would give D Smith a shot in the dark, seems like he has the pieces but he just needs to put it all together. Speed, strength and big play abilities.

there is no way ML is second in receptions. I get he's a great receiving RB, and CS is smart enough to check it down to him, but with all the jitterbug receivers and Shaq and Adams blowing up lately there are too many weapons to have a back as a 2nd leading receiver. If this happens our O is in trouble
