South Carolina landed a commitment from four-star JUCO defensive tackle Abu Lamin (Fort Scott, Kan./Fort Scott) on July 29 -- today the 6-foot-4, 325-pound prospect signed with the Gamecocks.
Abu Lamin signs with South Carolina.
"I've officially a Gamecock," Lamin said via text. "I've got garnet in my blood now. I've been waiting on this day for years."
South Carolina defensive line coach Deke Adams landed the talented prospect despite the continued push from other programs.
Lamin, who has three years to play three, originally chose South Carolina over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska and Tennessee among others.
Alabama continued to recruit Lamin for some time and Tennessee was able to get him in on an official visit.
The four-star prospect is ranked the No. 18 junior college prospect in the country and No. 6 junior college defensive tackle by 247Sports with a rating of 92
In the 247Sports Composite, which equally weighs the major scouting services in the industry, Lamin is a three-star prospect, ranked the No. 27 overall junior college prospect and No. 4 defensive tackle, with a rating of .8821.
Lamin is the only prospect expected to sign with South Carolina today as part of the junior college early signing period.
