Tony's thoughts on him echo my own when I heard that he and his family had played schools. Not only is it disrespectful, but it certainly leads to questions about character. Rather not have that "me first" attitude around the team. It will manifest itself in other, more destructive ways before it is over

How is this different than Johnson or Turner?

I think this is very telling about the honesty that our coaches use as their main recruiting tool. Even though we felt he was a good player, and we could clearly see he wanted to play linebacker, we were unwilling to make him promises about playing LB at the next level. I think it says a lot about our coaches that they're honest to a fault, and not willing to mislead a kid just to get his signature.

I guess we'll see if he ever plays a down at LB for Maryland.

The main difference is that Johnson and Turner are on board with playing on the D-line. Yannick didn't want to do that. Maryland promised to play him at LB, where he wants to play. Our coaches did not make such promises because they felt he would grow too big to stay at LB.

Yep. I thought that was evident but apparently not.

I don't think the post you just quoted insinuated that Johnson and Turner are not approved at linebacker. I believe (and may be wrong) that the poster is trying to say that Johnson and Turner will end up on the D-line, but will probably start their career playing some linebacker. Remember, Melvin Ingram came to school as a LB. He eventually gained too much weight to play there and was moved to the d-line full time. This is a very real possibility with Johnson, Ngakoue and Turner. Ngakoue obviously didn't like that idea and wanted to stay at LB.

I read that Bryant "added" Kentucky and So Cal to his final list of schools yesterday morning. At that point I didn't want him for us because it seemed like the kid NEEDS attention and guys like that rarely pan out.

Being from Goose Creek I heard that Tramel Terry was just a UGA fan growing up and he was going to be a UGA kid if he got the opportunity, similar to AJ Green. Not much a coach can do in that instance.

I'm VERY excited about this class as I think Spurrier has the right group of kids who are going to come in, work hard, and bring the Gamecocks their first National Title. You heard it here first!

Maybe that article should be sent out to all who have membership here. Perhaps some of the starch would come out of the collective board during January and there wouldn't be the hand wringing on board all January long. The coaches actually DO know what they are doing.
