COLLEGE PARK, Ga.- Unless things change quickly (as they already have today), three-star defensive back Chaz Elder (College Park, Ga./Banneker) will not be committing to any school this evening. Elder confirmed his decision as he walked off the practice field this afternoon. Banneker has its first game Saturday.
He was expected to pick South Carolina over Georgia and Vandy.
“I would rather support my team than support myself,” Elder said. “So I just need to sit down and think.”
Elder said he was set to announce, but elected not to. He was supposed to announce the decision via his Facebook and Twitter account and apparently was wrestling with the decision.
“I have been thinking about it all this week- if I am announcing or not,” Elder said. “I want to make sure that I am focused on my high school team first. That’s the main thing.”
He said there are still three finalists for his services.
“It’s UGA, South Carolina and Vanderbilt,” Elder said. “With South Carolina, it’s the defense they run, my position coach Lorenzo Ward and me playing cornerback. With Vanderbilt, it’s the chance to come in and change the program around. With UGA, I had several family members go there and it’s the in-state school.”
Elder is a three-star prospect according to 247Sports.
