Carolina adds trio of commitments

South Carolina added a trio of baseball commitments to the 2013 class on Friday with addition of two pitchers and an outfielder. Right-handed pitcher Cody Mincey (Spartanburg Methodist/Hartsville), left-handed pitcher Cole McMillan (Lexington/Lexington) and outfielder Brock Maxwell (Suwanee, Ga./Lambert).

Mincey appeared in 16 games last season for the Pioneers and posted a 5-2 record with a pair of saves. He pitched 42.2 innings allowing 13 earned runs on 43 hits and nine walks. He stuck out 37 and posted a 2.74 earned run average. Mincey stands 5-foot-8, 185 pounds.

McMillan, who stands 6-foo-1 and 175 pounds, was a starting pitcher for Lexington High School, which spent a large portion of the season ranked No. 1 in the state in AAAA. McMillan is ranked as the No. 3 left-handed pitcher in the state in the 2013 class by Diamond Prospects.

The final commitment came on Friday night when Maxwell called head coach Chad Holbrook and pledged to the Gamecocks. Ranked as the No. 109 player in the country by Perfect Game, the left-handed hitting outfielder made the All-Tournament team in the U-18 and U-17 World Wood Bat Association tournaments held in June.

South Carolina now has 17 commitments for the 2013 class, which includes two catchers, five outfielders, two infielders, and eight pitchers.
