Huge weekend on tap

Eighteen class of 2014 prospects will on the University of South Carolina's campus on official visits this weekend for the Gamecocks' annual "Big Recruiting Weekend."

Damian Prince is a five-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite.

The Gamecocks will host 14 prospects already committed to them -- all but three of their commitments -- as well as four top targets, three uncommitted and one committed to Florida State.

Four-star JUCO defensive tackle Abu Lamin (Fort Scott, Kan./Fort Scott) has already enrolled at Carolina while three-star cornerback Al Harris Jr. (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) took his official visit during the Nov. 29 weekend. Three-star JUCO defensive end Jhaustin Thomas (Athens, Texas/Trinity Valley CC) is expected to take his official visit next weekend.

Top targets in town

On top of the players already committed, South Carolina will host four of its top remaining targets this week: five-star OT Damian Prince, four-star CB Wesley Green , four-star CB Chris Lammons and four-star DT Dexter Wideman, who is committed to Florida State.

South Carolina has made a major push for Prince (District Heights, Md./Bishop McNamara) as of late and finds itself in the top three -- along with Maryland and Florida -- for the 6-foot-5, 295-pounder, who is being recruited by quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus. Prince, who has already officialed to Maryland, will visit Florida on Jan. 31, and make his decision on National Signing Day. Prince is considered the nation's No. 3 offensive tackle by the recruiting industry, as measured in the 247Sports Composite. The latest on South Carolina and Prince HERE (VIP).

Green (Lithonia, Ga./Martin Luther King) is a former South Carolina commitment, who opened back up in September but remains highly interested in the program. Green, who is considered the No. 17 CB in his class, has a final two of South Carolina and Georgia, and will official to the Bulldogs' program on Jan. 31. Find out the latest on Green HERE (VIP).

Lammons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Plantation) is a former Florida commitment who decommitted from the Gators last week. South Carolina and Wisconsin are in his final group with Florida State also a team to watch if the Seminoles decided to push for him. Grady Brown has developed an excellent relationship with the country's No. 21 cornerback who would play early in Columbia if the Gamecocks land him. Gamecocks in the lead for Lammons? More here. South Carolina hopes to land four-star CB Chris Lammons this weekend.

Wideman (Saluda/Saluda) has been committed to Florida State since he surprised everyone in July but 100 percent of the Crystal Ball predictions have Wideman flipping to the Gamecocks. Wideman, also recruited by Mangus, will official to FSU on Jan. 31 and could make a final decision shortly before or on National Signing Day. He's ranked the No. 16 DT by the industry but should start out at DE. What are chances Wideman flips? (VIP)

Holding on to the committed

South Carolina's best recruiter in the 2014 class has been four-star linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams (Ellenwood, Ga./Cedar Grove). Allen-Williams has spent countless minutes working the phones and social media to convince other prospects to join him in Columbia.

Ironically, he's also the prospect receiving the most pressure from other programs down the stretch as schools like Alabama and Georgia continue to push for him, off an excellent performance at the Army All-American game.

The nation's No. 6 outside linebacker, according to 247Sports, is firmly committed to the Gamecocks, but an excellent weekend with his future teammates should come at the perfect time for Carolina.

Three-star DT Taylor Stallworth (Mobile, Ala./Mobile) has also seen his stock rise in recent months and the Gamecocks are fending off a push from Mississippi State where he will visit next weekend. Stallworth was a nice land for linebackers coach Kirk Botkin and the Gamecocks will look to lock him up this weekend.
