South Carolina's 2015 recruiting class is off to a good start.
Shameik Blackshear committed to the Gamecocks Tuesday.
After landing its first pledge on Thursday, South Carolina added defensive end Shameik Blackshear (Bluffton/Bluffton) to the fold on Tuesday when the 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect announced his commitment on Twitter.
Blackshear confirmed the news via text message and also sent a direct message on Twitter simply saying, "I'm a Gamecock." Blackshear said that he was in school and wasn't currently available for comment.
Blackshear projected to be one of the top prospects in the country in 2015 and will be in the conversation to be the state's top prospect in his class.
Blackshear earned early offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, N.C. State, North Carolina and Tennessee.
He was recruited to South Carolina by running backs coach Everette Sands.
South Carolina landed its first commitment from the 2015 class Thursday when wide receiver Dexter Neal (Stone Mountain, Ga./Stephenson) committed to the Gamecocks following his spring game.
The class of 2015 has not yet been ranked, but the initial 2015 Top247 will be released Wednesday and Blackshear projects to make the list.
