Former USC skipper and current AD Ray Tanner was honored before the game with a retired uniform, video tribute, license plate, and renamed street.
Jordan Montgomery pitched 6 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits, 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in the season opener for both teams.
LB Dantzler provided USC its offense with a solo shot in the second inning and and a RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth.
USC (1-0) hosts Liberty in Game 2 Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
