Spurnotes - Biggest Uncertainty

kinda sucks imo, of all the years where we didn't have the depth to field a decent special teams unit on kickoff returns and kickoff coverages and got burned because of it. Now we actually have great depth and a potential great in KO returns with byrd and ellington and what do you know the darn rules change haha.

Doesn't seem odd at all to spend a lot of time talking about it.
It should be talked about more, imo. It's very important.

Coaches (some of which we have had in the past) that approach those positions
as purely walk on positions is a totally inane approach.

All the special teams rules help us a lot. We have not had a consistent special teams play in a long time. It's one of the oddities with all the talent and athletes...yes some good kickers, but there was always something. IMO, this hurts the UFs, LSUs of the world a lot more, may mean 3-7 points a game in our favor honestly.
As for my personal opinion, I don't like taking away kickoffs from the college (or NFL for that matter). It's such an exciting play with potential for huge results. Unfortunate...probably go away eventually. My guess is 50% less KO returns this year as a result.
