Stallworth adds name to commit list

South Carolina picked up its 11th commitment of its 2014 class Saturday afternoon when three-star defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth (Mobile, Ala./Murphy) committed to the Gamecocks.

Three-star DT Taylor Stallworth committed to Gamecocks linebackers coach Kirk Botkin.

"I'm very excited about my decision," said the 6-foot-3, 285-pound prospect, who described some of the things about the program he likes. "The coaching staff, how they treat their players like family, how the people around them help the students out, and their education and values. I like their organization and where the organization is going."

Stallworth chose the Gamecocks over offers from Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, N.C. State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Tennessee.

Stallworth was already high on South Carolina, which offered him first, but got the chance to see the program in person for the first time Saturday.

"I liked everything about the campus that I saw today," Stallworth said. "I liked the study hall, the stadium, the union where the athletes eat at."

Stallworth was recruited to the Gamecocks by linebackers coach Kirk Botkin.

"He's a cool, laid back guy," Stallworth said. "I like that in a person and he treats me like family."

Stallworth, who said he could play some defensive end on top of playing defensive tackle, described what he believes his strengths are.

"I think I'm quick off the ball -- I get a good jump, and I've got explosive hands."

The three-star prospect says he's firmly committed to South Carolina but said he may still take trips to Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State.

Stallworth is the 11th addition to the Gamecocks' 2014 recruiting class.

With a rating of 85, Stallworth is ranked the No. 62 defensive tackle in the country.
