South Carolina middle linebacker Angelo Watley was arrested on Sunday on three charges and is currently being detained at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Per University policy, Watley has been suspended from all football-related activities.
Watley was charged with Grand Larceny of good that value more than $2,000 but less than $10,000. He was also charged with Financial Transaction Card Theft and Violent Burglary in the second degree. He is currently being held on $50,000 bond by the city.
Watley signed out of Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Ga. as part of the 2011 class and redshirted his first year on campus. He was a three-star prospect by 247Sports and was also recruited by Auburn and Marshall.
UPDATE: A USC spokesperson confirmed Watley's suspension but no further punishment has been given by the university or football staff. This is not Watley's first arrest. He was arrested on July 3, 2011 in Gwinnett County and charged with six counts of terroristic threats and acts.
