They are both going to Maryland.

    • Honestly, I would not be surprised if they both went to Maryland. For some reason we cannot close this year. Looks like the only player that maybe wanted to commit was Senat and we would not take it. Don't know if any of the Mods will ever say what is going on but things are not adding up.

    • I agree something is not adding up. We are losing out too many times this year and that should not be happening for a program like ours.

I think it has alot to do with a fairly week in state class this year. I think we have done pretty well in GA. and NC. but anytime you recruit kids from that far away, it's a crap shoot. You will probably get one or two at best but, the alternative is to not go after them at all and I don't think any of us want that. Next year will be a much better year close to home and I think maybe if we don't get these guys we should just save the spots for next year. Not saying we won't get them just wouldn't want to have knee jerk reaction just to say we signed someone.

Mangus is having a difficult time hanging on to his commitments this year. Combine that with Shumate's late swing to ND and McCord's to Miami last year, he's had a rough 2 years. I'm beginning to wonder whether he's spread too thin.

I'm sure that's a possibility. I think it will be very important to hire a very strong recruiter to replace Lawing. I think there will be several coaches spread thin until we can get Botkin and a few others up to speed on recruiting.

David Williams says hey, So does conner mitch. Lost 1 recruit to a hometown team. So elliot lost one. How many did he get? Well lets see.... 4 ols(he recruits them all his self) (with help from local guys. Top guy in our class (L Bryant). I think he is the recruiter for Hand (or maybe its Mangus). either way... take your ******* out of your mouth.

Check out a recruiting site which has a list of his targets. He has many times more than most of our coaches.

I'm sorry, what about Elliott? I thought the posts were about Mangus.

    • Imo, Mangus is still our best recruiter on the staff. Since he has been here he has made sure Spurrier has been involved with recruits. He does an excellent job with recruits and their parents.

He has built in roads in to schools up and down the east coast. I still don't believe he gets enough credit and it would be nice to see him get paid for his hardwork.

Not to mention our QB recruiting and development has never been better.

    • This kid seems to have a really level head on his shoulders. I'd be stunned if he falls for any kind of recruiting "tricks/stunts" Mike Locksley throws at him. That being said, playing at home could be a hard opportunity to turn down.

    • Its absurd that yall think it is easy to pull a kid from his hometown team that's atleast 10 hours away.

Some people want to stay close, be the hometown hero, and be close to mama. This doesn't mean we cant close, it is not any easy thing to do....

Same thing with mccord, miami is 12 hours away, miami may suck now but being able to say u played football for miami is nothing to frown on.

Either look at recruiting logically and from a players perspective or don't follow it. It is like a witch hunt on this board lately.

    • Reports are that he has committed to The USC this morning via twitter.
