" big tent" liberals prepared to stop business for beliefs

  • Chick fil A owner expresses beliefs on marriage.... Opinion drew the following reaction from liberal democratic mayors
San Fran liberal mayor Lee " The closest Chick fil A is 40 miles away from San Francisco and I strongly recommend they not come any closer"
Boston liberal mayor Menino " I urge you ( chick fil a ) to back out of plans to locate in Boston "

Dump Starbucks in Denver (over homosexual ...

Buying a drink on the way to work, Bob then found out about the Dump Starbucks boycott and joined it! DUMP STARBUCKS STOCK: Pastor Bob Enyart of Denver Bible Church pours his Venti (20 oz) Pike blend down a Colorado sewer because the company is trying to undermine the teaching of Jesus Christ that God made us male and female at the beginning of creation. Thoughts? Call Denver's 20-year daily radio show Bob Enyart Live at KGOV.com, Mon. - Fri. 3 p.m. (M.T.) Look, I'm the first one to say that if a business meets existing zoning laws they shouldn't be denied a permit. And if they are denied I wish them all the luck in the world in their lawsuit.

But it's as reasonable for a San Francisco elected official to say, "we don't want you" to Chick FIl A as it is for a San Francisco newspaper columnist, Maggie Gallagher, to lead a national campaign against Starbucks

going down the slippery slope. the tennesseans dont want that big ole islamic temple. cities dont want chicken places. people want buy coffee so they can have the big revenge of pouring it out (really=that one seems off, as one would have to give money to pour out the coffee so where is the bad for starbucks?). back in the 60s we liberals had boycotting of grapes, due to the pretty grim conditions in the california farm fields with cesar chavez famous illegal immigrant dude.

i am just now finishing off some stuff on ig farben of old german fame. is that right johnhunt? were they not the ancestors of basf & bayer & some other hefty businesses???

that the executives of if farben sentenced for war crimes related to slave labor, that in the 50s these war criminals could be back on top in these named companies, and that today, we, when we buy bayer aspirin you are giving blood money to bloody hands.

dont feel sorry for the corporations. if people, they dont face the consequences that i, as just an ordinary good old country boy would if i did anywhere remotely the damage many of our "fellow citizens" have done

do as you wish, i dont care. its america i dont care. i will just do what i want & if i see me a corporation coming this is what i am gonna do. get me a gun shoot him out on highway 61

god said go kill me a son
i said where you want his killing done
god saId out on highway 61 god said what?

The difference is the mayor represents the interests of all the people and the legitimate and legally operated businesses in the city not just those with a particular political or moral stance.

Would it be equally reasonable for Obama to say to Chick Fil A "We don't want you.", You aren't welcome in Our country.

i am now guessing chik fil a has become the issue among the so called citizens of america

saw a poll where a big percentage in the gop insist obama is not a christian, but a muslim, despite every thing the poor sap has tried to do

i saw also where a church in miss. refused to marry a black couple even though they regularly went to services there, a baptist church

muslims are dying and being slaughtered in the streets by other muslims. americans are killing americans in spectacularvision. we are buying guns faster than marshal dillon could even consider

and here we are angsted up about fried chicken
i think chik fil a is going to survive this onslaught of immediate quick draw rash reaction.

being sarcastic there a bit as well as understated

Would it be reasonable for a mayor and an entire political party to say no to a mosque in lower Manhattan that has met all zoning requirements and obtained all permits and is in area with numerous houses of worship including at least one existing mosque?

    please, lets stop the insanity.

soon there will be drive thru drivebys iffin we dont pull ourselves together

i cant do it. i cant promise i will never eat at that chicken place again, if my grandkid insists of course i will

on such weighty issues we contend, though you are right, the other side is all too ready to clamp down on...you insert the group here...muslims...gays...lesbians...transgenders...gypsies...jews....blacks...over time the names have changed, the hate has not. on either side i hate to say

but really chicken? let them do as they want with their money, the times are going to change

"pretty soon there will be drive thru dive by's IF"
    What's the IF ?
    Explain " drive thru driveby's"?

When can we expect these political leaders to call for banning future expansion of churches that have morality differences with the left.

ahem, as i insinuated earlier, after some steam blowing off, i felt all along these pols would swing back around. jobs jobs jobs. but the quotes were good for everybody to burnish their creds

burnishing cred over fried chicken. the snake oil show goes on. the issue of gay marriage needs to be resolved by our courts, the sooner the better, so as to offically get past this huffing & puffing of indignations

its not that big a deal to me, but it appears to draw more interest than dance with me or dancing horses

its chicken...chicken salad....fries...how about syria and iran and romney wanting to run american foreign policy from israel....lots of odd things going on

You mean like the city in Tennessee, and little place called New York that blocked permitted mosques in areas already zoned for houses of worship?

Mayor Bloomberg favors the Islamic cultural center. Minority Leader Reid says the center should be built somewhere else.

Islam is clear in its prohibition of homosexual acts. Islamic scholars cite these reasons for condemning homosexuality, based on teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah:

•It clashes with the "natural" order in which God created human beings
•It brings destruction of the family and the institutions of marriage
•It leads people to ignore God's guidance in other areas of life
In Islamic terminology, homosexuality is alternatively called al-fahsha' (an obscene act), shudhudh (abnormality), or 'amal qawm Lut (behavior of the People of Lut). Islam teaches that believers should neither participate in nor support homosexuality.

If Islamists are being denied the opportunity for expanding or enlarging their mosques I doubt it's because of their stance on family values and gay marriage.

Your post, as they always are, is interesting and informative.

It has nothing however to do with my point which is that houses of worship that meet all local zoning laws are already being blocked from being built because someone is "offended."
