A lot of us disagree with each other

  • Regarding the recent health care policies. However, I hope that we can all agree that these people are just really, really stupid ...

  • I have several close friends that are ultra conservative, and I heard two of them mention going to Australia.

  • I think if I were to ever get to that point, it'd be the Conch Republic or somewhere in the Carribean. Australia sounds good too.

Not sure I'd ever get to that point

Australia has government run health care system.

The most "fiscally conservative"/hands-off governments in the world are in Eastern Europe, the Caribean, and the Middle East

The Conch Republic was a bit of a joke. If I ever get the point of moving, I'm going somewhere that I'd enjoy my surroundings. Never been to Australia, thus I said it sounds good. I dislike Obamacare, but that alone will not make me give up my life and relocate.

Right, bc Obama being my President is clearly my main issue. Thus I still live in SC. You got me.

  • I don't know enough about Australia or Canada..... are they up to their ears in debt, with giant social programs and a gov't that only wants to raise taxes so it can spend a shitload more?

Both Australia and Canada have higher taxes and spend more on social programs than the US does.

What is the tax structure in Australia and Canada? There are wide variances in the US, with many paying no income tax and others paying a high percentage. When you factor in sales taxes, fuel taxes, property taxes, etc. our effective tax rates for many is pretty high. The socialist, redistribution of wealth model in many countries is proving to be very flawed. How exactly do we compare to the countries you mentioned? I have no problem whatsoever in sharing what I have with those that can't, but I have major issues in sharing with those that can but choose not to and feel entitled to what those who have worked hard and achieved have. Also, my time in the military and interaction since with both state and federal government has shown me waste within government that is mind boggling. There are a lot of things right with our country, but there is also a lot wrong. I personally feel government works best when it works from the center, not to the extreme right or to the extreme left, which is the direction we are currently headed.
