...with my fiancee, two 50+ pound dogs and a fat-ass cat in a Jetta.
So some questions:
1) What's the best way to get all our crap cross-country? PODS is looking like about $2500 or so, IF I can cram all our stuff into one container. Uhaul just isn't going to work because my woman just can't drive that far and we can't fit all the humans and beasts into the cab of one uhaul truck. Anybody got any other suggestions or some feedback on PODS?
2) Anybody know anything about Denver? My job will be in Westminster, a little northwest of the city. Good places to live? Suggestions on how to find a good rental property?
3) Any other general info/advice for this kind of relocation?
Any advice/help will be appreciated!
I'll be yo huckleberry...
my only advice it to eat at Lucille's creole cafe on Logan St. tis the bomb-diggity
Also, if traffic is bad or near rush hour when your potential flight lands, take MLK instead of the interstate into the city.

I'll get back here in a bit. I have a ton of information for you. I know tons of folks up there, a few of them realtors. I love Denver.

John Denver Thank God Im A Country Boy
I hear that PODS is the way to go; check with the local realtors, like Coldwell Banker.
They are a huge presence in big cities, and do a lot of house rentals/leases.
For peace in your realtionship, make it as easy as possible on fiancee' and pets.....
When I moved home to SC from Alaska in '88, I put my wife, 1 year old daughter and
pet on a Delta flight, hired a moving co. , and pulled a U-Haul behind my JEEP....

My father in law recently moved cross country. He didn't use PODS. He rented a semi trailer, filled, and had it hauled that way. I can ask him what he paid for that if you like.
2. Denver is awesome. Westmister is like 20 minutes from downtown area. That is the 'burbs. Westminister, Thornton are up that way. If you like the 'burbs, that's your spot. We were joking with our friends the other day that Thornton is where 'fear this' went to retire.
If I had my druthers,(and this is the plan in a few years), we are going to move close to downtown. The neighborhoods you should check are:
Congress Park, Cheeseman Park, Cap Hill << my favorite.
Cool neighborhoods, and downtown is accessible by foot. Plenty to do there.
Send me a PM. My friend is a realtor up in the Westminister area, and can find you a great spot. He has connects to realtors in the neighborhoods I described above. I'll get you his info.
Advice... Start packing now. Get rid of all your plates, cups, etc and start fresh.
Jelly's Cafe -- Cap Hill OMG I love this place, I do not go to Denver without going there.
Benny Blanco's -- The best pizza I've ever eaten. Owned by New Yorkers who know what they are doing. Be prepared to order though...they'll go 'soup nazi' on your ass and never answer your call again.
Warm coat, hat, shoes, tire chains for the rest listen to 3.0, he reliable.

A couple of friends moved everything from their summer cabin back east using two men and a truck, seemed happy with the service.
