No. But I was in a frat.
Last sentence got me. I laughed.

Without mentioning your spelling, are you making fun of people that wear this type of clothing?

No fraternity. Never pledged. Never wanted to. Had plenty of fun on my own and met plenty of girls on my own. Plus I made lifelong friends that were also NOT in a fraternity.
You can't see! I can't see! All that matters is can the f*&%ing horse see! That's a raid!
This thread is definitely not frat.

I am hearing much more pain in these answers than I anticipated.....still a lot of residual emotional carryover. Was the worst part having to date non sorority girls because THAT I can understand.
The rug really tied the room together, did it not?
Op was a PIKA IMO
I was not. I was going to rush ATU bc my grandfather was in that frat. But I did not get along with some of the members so I just decided to not do the frat life. My wife was in a sorority but hasn't ever hung out with them since college and we graduated in 95.
Go Gamecocks !!!
No, I wasn't. Just decided not to do it.
You may run like Hayes, but you hit like $*!#
Sigma Nu- 1973 No sunglasses, but khakkis and loafers
"Yeah, now, well, the thing about the old days: they the old days."
I bet you still wear affliction Tee's, birkenstocks and cargo pants
Making bets and cashing checks
No, for these reasons:
1. Not my cup of tea. I drink now and drank then, but even as a college kid I was never into the party hearty lifestyle - ie getting drunk for the sake of getting drunk and the behavior that accompanies it. My college friends enjoyed having fun, but in moderation.
2. Money. Most of my undergrad education was paid for with scholarships and student loans. My sister started college a year after I did, so money was tight. Spending money I did not have for something like a fraternity would have made no sense. Truth be told, even if money had not been an issue back then, joining a fraternity would have been the farthest thing from my mind. Also, I worked 15-20 hours per week at the computer center. If you were a student or professor in 1970-1972 and submitted card decks/picked up printouts, I probably waited on you at some time or another.
