Dingy Harry: Bain Investor Says Mitt Paid NO Taxes for 10 Years

  • Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he was told by a Bain investor that Willard went ten years without paying any income taxes.

Harry Reid on Mitt Romney’s Taxes

Noah Glyn writes on NRO: Lest anyone doubt his opposition to Mitt Romney’s candidacy, Harry Reid made some pretty strident anti-Romney remarks in an interview with the Huffington Post today: “His poor father must be so embarrassed about his son,” Reid said, in reference to George Romney’s standard-setting decision to turn over 12 years of tax . . .

    www.nationalreview.com

Reid suggests Romney not releasing tax returns would have 'embarrassed' late father | Fox News

The quip came as Reid quoted an unnamed former business acquaintance of Romney's as claiming the candidate had avoided taxes for a full decade -- that presumably being the reason he wouldn't want the returns to be made public.

Guess Mitt isn't part of the 53%.

Was this unnamed source Romney's account? Did Romney and the unnamed source file jointly?

According to the link provided, Reid acknowledged that he had no evidence to back up such a claim.

Harry said it was a Bain investor. Have to ask him for more details.

Of course Willard could just release a decade or so of tax returns like virtually every presidential candidate has for years and like his old man did. Then we wouldn't have to ask Harry.

McCain only released 2 years. But, no issue raised by Hussein about how many returns previous candidates had released. However, I am 1000% positive, you got all worked up about McCain releasing as many as some past candidates.

But, we all know that Hussein is making issue of Romney as a candidate and not propping up his own record for a reason.

From the story in the link: "Reid quoted an unnamed former business acquaintance of Romney's as claiming the candidate had avoided taxes for a full decade" (only an alleged claim, not a proven fact - offered by an unnamed business acquaintance, not a partner nor an associate)

For the sake of the argument, let's stipulate that to be true. Romney has complied with the law, otherwise I presume the IRS might have taken some legal recourse. The release of several years tax returns by previous candidates is neither an ethical standard nor a moral compass on which to judge future candidates.

As for Reid’s assertion Romney couldn’t get confirmed for a cabinet position without the tax returns being made available – not relevant and certainly the same argument could be made against Obama with all his personal records being kept sealed and unavailable for inspection and scrutiny.

I agree. Honestly I don't give a damn one way or the other. Romney could have multiple wives for all I care.

However, I don't want to hear any more of this "only 53% of Americans pay taxes" nonsense when it is clear that:

-They are ignoring the substantial amount of taxes that people pay that aren't federal income taxes
    -That this is completely legal
-That a multimillionaire and the Republican candidates may not even be paying federal income taxes.

Substantial = large size. What are these that you're referring too?

  • i am interested to see if romney persists in his stance on his returns. i dont see how he can, based on his position right now, he seems really adamant about it. but its going to be a constant source of irritation

if i were him i would do five years, take the hit. if he paid no taxes, with deductions to justify that, then i would not scream. many would but it is what it is.

just have done with it mitt. just my humble advice.

i wish i did not have to pay any taxes. if i could find a way i would do so, legally i mean. no law breaking. too soft for life in a real cell.

When you only make 15k a year, the 1 or 2k that you lose to sales, SS, and other taxes can be a substantial amount.

I had a family member make a little over 17k last year. So I asked him about his SS and Medicare. It was below 1k. A little over 5%. If you had $1 and lost 5 pennies of it, you'd consider that substantial?. That's less than 1k that is going to a social program that doesn't benefit the collective.

Sales taxes are consumption based and are not federal.

First of all your family member is lying. The floor on Social Security monthly payments is around $500 per month. Secondly. Medicare doesn't pay you anything, it pays medical bills.

    Total BS.

FInally, if all you had in the world was $1, or all you made was $1, yes 5 cents would mean a ton to you.

You are a perfect example of a typical Republican. Grossly ignorant of what the real world is like.

That's what was taken out of his earnings, not what he received. And, he showed me his w-2, so, no, you retard, he's not lying.

Just to be clear, you say - 5% is substantial? Homeless people might be the only people that only have '$1 in this world'. We're talking about people that are gainfully employed.

In the spirit of transparency and openness I feel compelled and obligated to disclose there was a ten year period from 1950 - 1959 in which I paid no federal income tax.

What an entirely arrogant and dumbassed statement. Yeah we Republicans don't live in the real world. I've got news for you: we ALL live in the real world where Obama has monkey humped this economy sideways and because we don't agree with arrogant pricks like you on political matters does NOT mean we aren't living in the "real world". The last 3+ yars have been about as "real" as it gets.

I don't know about you, but I'm self employeed, I send the gov't an estimate tax check every few months, I pay my own bills, I waited until I could afford a child before having one, I care about my credit score, I drive a 15 year old vehicle bc I have more important bills and I don't lie/laugh/ignore when I'm late on a bill and a collector has called. If that's an example of a 'typical republican', I wonder his thoughts on all the dems that live in gov't housing, collect welfare checks, have babies to get more money and own iPhones while the gov't send sthem money.

I think my world is a little more 'real world' than the other.

I'll tell you what - next homeless guy I see, instead of giving them $5 or $10 bucks when I've got it in my pocket, I'll pass them a $1, and then a nickel and explain to them how 'substantial' that nickel really is.

But everything was GREAT the two years before that????

    Like I said, you're all about as clueless as Willard "I made it on my own, my father only left me one million dollars" Rimney.;

    His name is Romney dumbass.
Also, I missed where I mentioned things being great the two years prior to that. But your best strength seems to be the Rachel Maddow, MSNBC spoon fed generalizations. That's easier than thinking for yourself. Something you fail miserably at.

His name Is Willard Milton Romney. Is he to good for me to address by his first name? I know little people like me who pay over 14% in taxes don't matter, but what name should I call him by to show proper respect?

And what's with the Rachel Maddow stuff? You are really shooting blanks. Maybe you should try some Vitamin E, or viagra like El Rushbo.

I sell girls clothing for a living and have 2 daughters so my idea of manhood was probably skewed a while back. Like I said, I was tweaking you.
As to the dressage competition I can't say but I hear Mitt's horse has a big dick if that counts for anything.
