Going there in June. What are the best places to eat? Preferably on water. Anything else of interest would be greatly appreciated. Will be there a week and have a 5 and 2 year old with us.

I'm interested in this too, I'm going about this time next year. I've never been there, so I have no ideas what to do.

Went last year...I really liked Whaley's...food was good...festive atmosphere...laid back. I did not like the Dock Side...I now refer to them as the " Seafood Nazi's"...not overly friendly... when I was there they had so many rules posted about do's and don'ts that it made me want to go spend my money elsewhere....
The way we found Whaley's...wife and I were riding bikes with my kids and my daughter was "thirsting to death" so we pulled over(just happed to be at Whaley's...they were closed but the owner was outside doing some cleanup....he saw that my daughter was thirsty and tired so opened up, brought out some drinks, didn't charge us anything...just told us to come try them out for dinner...so we did...kudos to Whaley's

I think there is only one restaurant on the island that serves breakfast, Sea Cow. It's good but the wait is forever. Bring food for breakfast because options are limited.
Whaleys is a good bar. I thought dockside was decent, but probably not for kids. The pavilion also has a decent bar/restaurant.
You may run like Hayes, but you hit like $*!#

Old post office is a couple miles from the beach, but it's worth going to.

Sea Cow is great. Good breakfast. At lunch get a shrimp salad wrap. I haven't been down there the last 2 years but Sunset Grill is on the water and pretty good. A little bit of drive headed off of the island is Po Pigs. Good BBQ.

-Golf Course is in much better shape now $35 for 9 $55 for 18 with good multiday rates
-Seacow is the best breakfast HOWEVER, if you haven't eaten at the PIG for breakfast you are missing the best deal on the island
-My favorite lunch is McConkies Fish Taco
-Best dinner is obviously the Old Post Office but its a little off the island and expensive. Whaleys is good, sea cow is good. I am no longer a fan of dockside (has become trashy)
-Best desert, WITHOUT A DOUBT, Martha's pies sold at Seacow. If i could drive to Edisto right now i would get the fish taco at McConkies and the coconut creme pie by Martha at Seacow.

If you are up for a 30 minute drive, I recommend the Firehouse in Hollywood. On the island, I like the Sea Cow for breakfast, McConkey's for burgers/fish tacos, and Whaley's for dinner, the Old Post Office if you have the money to spend. I think an even better option would be to take some fishing gear and catch some fresh flounder or redfish or even crabs.
Edisto is a great place to relax without all of the touristy attractions. If your kids can manage the walk, about a mile, take them to Botany Bay to collect shells.

The Old Post Office is definitely the best place for a nice meal. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays Grover's on the golf course at Wyndham is good too

If you can get on the property at Legare Creek, you can usually watch the dolphins feeding on the banks at dusk. Pretty cool thing to see.
