Most incoherent lyrics of all time?

  • I've got to go with Pearl Jam - Yellow Ledbetter

    nugent

  • Pearl Jam might take the entire top 5.

Never had any problem understanding those lyrics.

First song that I thought of was Evenflow.

Ian Astbury of The Cult has some dandies..."Plastic fantastic lobster telephone" comes to mind. Also, many of Beck's are, at best, obtuse.

My favorite of Beck's is "Quit my job blowing leaves, telephone bills up my sleeve."

Ah Evenflow. Classic video, you know from when they weren't too aware of themselves to make videos.

Louie Louie, the drunker you get the more it makes sense.

Back when MTV actually played videos.

The original 1955 version by Richard Berry had discernible lyrics - the Kingsmen version of 1963 did not. An FBI investigation could not discern the lyrics either.

In 1981 Black Flag released a version - not the original lyrics however.

So ABC, the truth is out?...Your past is revealed?

  • Beck - Loser. Lyrics make absolutely no sense.

In the time of chimpanzees, I was a monkey
Butane in my veins and I'm out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray paint the vegetables
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose

Kill the headlights and put it in neutral
Stock car flamin' with a loser in the cruise control
Baby's in Reno with the Vitamin D
Got a couple of couches, sleep on the love seat

Someone came in sayin' I'm insane to complain
About a shotgun wedding and a stain on my shirt
Don't believe everything that you breathe
You get a parking violation and a maggot on your sleeve

So shave your face with some mace in the dark
Savin' all your food stamps and burnin' down the trailer park
    Yo, cut it

    Play

  • Not only are these words incoherent and nonsensical - they're not even real words.

    "Enter Maurice" by Steve Miller

My dearest darling, come closer to Maurice
so I can whisper sweet words of epismetology
in your ear and speak to you of the pompatus of love.

He would latter use the line "pompatus of love" in the song, "The Joker"

    "The Letter" by the Medallions

Oh my darling, let me whisper
    sweet words of pizmotality
and discuss the puppetutes of love.
