Listen, if you're okay sharing your home with a vicious deathmonger that's fine. Buf if any of my neighbors were ever dumb enough to get one of those things (unlikely since I don't live in a trailer park) I would kill it for sure. Better it than me IMO.

Just commenting on the ridiculousness of outlawing dog breeds. Pits are outlawed in some cities like Denver. There are much more important things to worry about, like people killing people.
I am pretty sure that Golden Retrievers are in the top 10 now in number of dog bites. Its just the most popular breeds are going to have the most bites.

What's even the point of owning a pit? Thousands of other breeds that don't come with the baggage. You're entitled to have whatever dog you want the same as I'm entitled to my opinion but if that breed was eradicated it would be for the better. I can say we have a small son, if a pit comes in our yard I'll shoot it and ask questions later, I'll not risk it for a second.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

I agree that fish and gerbils are fairly safe alternatives - Many Japanese have pet crickets - Many Clemnuts have pet sheep
Not sure I understand the importance or relevance of the comment, "...the pit...dogs of choice for poor owners" ... Just curious - could that be code speak for minority people of color??

No, it's code speak for owners that fight them, put them on chains in the yard and leave them, abuse them, and in general make them aggressive. When it comes time to get another dog I want an APBT, and I'll buy from 'a person of color' whom I've known for years that adores pits and has bred them for a very long time

not at all, just being clear.
it's almost always about how you raise an animal. Animals, like humans, can have issues/mental problems/etc that are difficult to detect and to overcome. I've got three dogs that have come together a sort of a hodgepodge, but two are Chihuahuas. They are as friendly as a lab. The want to lick people, play fetch and sit in anyones lap that will allow them, but the stereotype of Chihuahuas is much different.

...They do have this singularity of focus in what they do. Some call it stubbornness, or "gameness", but they do everything with extreme vigor.... They also are impulsive by nature...I have come home to a foam-filled living room, and found my couch nothing but 2x4's before.

You are aware they have psychiatrists who provide treatment and psychotropic meds for pets with aggression and separation anxiety disorders...I've known a couple of dogs who were on xanax.
I thought about it once for my Chihuahua but you know how stigmatized they can become if that gets out ... their friends often avoid them or give them strange glances.
