OT: Best BBQ You've Ever Had

With baseball starting tomorrow and spring just around the corner, it got me to thinking about all of the delicious BBQ I'm going to have/make this year. I have had good BBQ from many places, but here are my favorites:
Lexington (NC) BBQ- can't beat it, vinegar based heaven
The Georgia Pig- Exit 28 off of I-95 in Brunswick, GA...best tomato based BBQ in the history of the world; if you're on the way to Florida and you don't stop here, your trip won't be as good as it could have been
Spiced Right- in Lilburn, GA, right outside of Atlanta; they have the best Brunswick Stew that I have ever tasted
I'm not a fan of mustard base, so that's out for me. BBQ has to have a few qualities that make it good: it MUST be smoked, juicy, and the sauce has to be homemade or unique to the maker. In my experience, North Carolina has the best BBQ overall, followed by Georgia. I have not had Texas BBQ, but I'm pretty sure they mostly do beef, and I am strictly talking pork Q in the region. The Palmetto Pig and Doc's do NOT have good BBQ; the only thing that makes those places good is that they are buffet-style, so you get as much as you want.

I have always been a fan of Parkers in Wilson, N.C. Gardners in Rocky Mount N.C is also good. Anything mustard base is just wrong!

Gonna be honest, I have hate in my heart for you belittling Palmetto Pig. One summer they did a special for students where they only charged $5. I ate there 4 or 5 times a week. My love for the pig is nostalgic though, and I always tell people the BBQ isn't the best ever, but I do love that sweet sauce.
Also, if you find yourself in Spartanburg, you should check out Pig Out. Good pulled pork but they have the best ribs you'll find....I might go there now actually.

Last weekend I smoked a butt with a Coffee-chipotle rub and it was the best!!!

Oh, I have a special place in my heart for Palmetto Pig, too; I used to tear it up in college...but it's not good BBQ. I think we like it because of the fact that it is BBQ, it is cheap, and it is all-you-can eat. Not even the Palmetto Pig owners would choose their own compared to the stuff I'm talking about.

Gotta go w/Corky's dry ribs in Memphis. Yes, I've done Rendezvous, but they pale in comparison to Corky's in my humble opinion. Corky's also has some mean pulled pork and BBQ chicken.

I made the rub... I Believe the brown sugar caramelized which made the pork so juicy and moist.
Coffee-chipotle rub
Ingredients:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup of finely ground dark coffee
1/4 cup paprika (smoked is preferred but regular is fine)
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon chipotle powder
2 teaspoons granulated garlic
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
2 teaspoons cumin
2 teaspoons allspice

Bridges in Shelby, NC.....KIng's in Petersburg, VA..........never been a fan of eastern NC BBQ......it's too bland for me.....but I understand why people like it........it's all good !

Mustard-based, I'd say Dukes in Orangeburg.
Vinegar-based, the best I've ever had was in Lincolnton, N.C.
Tomato-based, Cozy Corner in Memphis. Also really liked Jim 'n Nick's in Hoover, Ala. Calhoun's Knoxville and Gatlinburg has the best ribs I've ever eaten.

I don't really know who has the best since I seem to like it all, but there's a new place in Anderson called The Pompus Pig. It's been in business maybe 2 years but it's excellent and they have several awards on the wall for winning various cookoffs so it must be pretty good.

The best BBQ I've found in the Columbia area is True BBQ in West Columbia, on D st, behind Zesto. It's incredible blows everything else in Columbia out of the water

I'd probably go with Scott's Barbecue in Hemingway, SC. Anything that's not vinegar-pepper based just ain't barbecue to me. But then again I'm probably a 'cue snob. I love Scott's because it's vinegar-pepper, and it's very similar to my own vinegar-pepper recipe. Took me years to get my sauce just the way I want it.

Four of us ate at Lexington BBQ on the way to UNC game a few years ago. Can't tell you how disapointing the whole experience was. They bring the Q out in small trays. What's up with that?
We found a place in Salisbury on the way back Sunday that wasn't bad.
You all that live in SC need to thank the good Lord you are not to far from the best BBQ in the world.

What's that joint on the way on/off the island in Edisto? That place was good.
