Nope. I live in the country and no way I would kill a Rat Snake or a Black King snake, It's hard enough to keep the Copperheads, Water moccasins and rodents at bay. They are nonvenomous and not harmful to humans.

There was about an 8 ft king snake in my parents' backyard last week. Then my dad found its skin under the crawl space and opened the garage door on Friday afternoon and it was sitting in the garage on the steps. They are pretty good to have around and keep the rodents away, but when they get to be that big, it's time for them to go. So let's just say it won't be slithering around in my parents' garage anymore.

This^^^. I too have had a pet rat snake, and that in the picture isn't even close (size wise), they simply don't grow that big period! It is a constrictor for sure, and like he said... probably someone's ex-pet. That snake is big enought to kill an adult if it was somehow able to bite and hold on while it wrapped. An adult would have a hard time keeping that snake off if it bit them, forget about a child. Hard to believe he didn't "take care" of that potential serious problem!

I cannot believe people are saying that snake is dangerous to people/children. There is no scale in the picture, but that snakes head would have to be HUGE for it to consider trying to take a person.
There is a reason they are called RAT snakes. They are not made for anything bigger. No reason to kill that snake. I am not a snake lover, but I don't think it is our responsibility to decide if everything lives or dies.
That snake is no threat. Let him keep on serving his little purpose in the cycle that is nature.

It was probably a pet, I seem to think it is an Papuan Olive Python (Apodora Papuana) which are worth big money on the exotic pet market
