One of these things is not like the others ...

    "Any mockery, whether it's Halloween, Victoria's Secret — they are spitting on us. They are spitting on our culture, and it's upsetting,"

    I would only ask, is intent relevant in either offending or feeling offended or is it a moot point.

  • I agree that they are not the same.

    I do not think intent is relevant in offending but it may be to a greater extent in being offended. It is certainly possible to offend without intending to do so and I know I have been offended by others who have no ill-will.

    However, intent is incredibly important, imo, in determining the proper course of action going forward. Lack of malicious intent should make any outrage (whether real or manufactured) short-lived or nonexistent.
