Participated in the great American privilege of voting today...

  • And it felt good... Hoping for "Change" in Nov!

  • Nothing personal - would have much preferred that you were voting for "change" rather than hoping for it - I'm sure it's just me, but hoping seems just a skosh pessimistic.

  • Hope you voted yes for Sunday alcohol sales.

I have one vote. I "hope" others vote against Obama in Nov. A bit picky, aren't you?

    augustacarguy

  • is it prying to ask which candidate you voted for? i understand if you dont want to. some folks react negatively to any such question. since its newts home state i would expect him to have a good margin

what happens in the rest, we shall see

  • I voted Santorum. Will hold my nose and vote for Romey in the general. Wrestling with the Mormon thing a bit.

Other than our choice of cars and who’s running General Motors - we're on the same team - I'm sure you could see I was not attacking you - Call me an old cynic, a curmudgeon if you will - perhaps that qualifies me as picayune.

Absolutely - we hope others will vote for change in November - Newt declared winner in Georgia....cheers....Hope springs eternal.

John, you stole my thunder. I was gonna rag him about voting against his own "CEO" but you kinda ruined it for me. Just messing with you CARGUY! Interesting about Newt...? I think my brain is fried with this primary business.

I'm just across the river from you...but I think would have voted the same way although I haven't put much thought into it.

  • North Augusta?

  • If you are 'hoping' for change come November then you better 'hope' that Romney wins. He's our only shot. Only problem is this pathetic, negative primary has been drawn so far out that Romney's chances of winning the general are getting worse by the day. These people like Palin who keep saying that the long, tough primary will only help by making Romney a better candidate have lost their marbles. Romney's negatives with independents have gone up over 20 points the past 4 months. These are the voters that need to switch their votes from the way they voted last time in order for us to win and I'm afraid we're blowing it.

I would strongly urge caution and restraint, my friend, with your use of "mock Indian" phrases. There are those among us who might find your use of the humorous characterization of the Native American dialect to be off putting and insensitive borderline hate speech in league with Limbaugh.

It's wearing me out too. In the long run, however, I think things will work out. Once the primary is over and the attention is turned to President Obama and his lackluster performance and record our nominee will look just fine by comparison. It's stressful, though, I know what you mean.

Yeah, never know when some lib like me is ready to punce, eh?

I will say this is a fairly indecisive and inconclusive primary so far. Kind of bleh. For my money, '08 democratic campaign was interesting because of two more or less clear heavyweights.

    Good point - pesky libs

Adding to the interest was how one was thought to be a shoe in especially in light of their ties to a previous liberal icon - have you given any thought to what our deficit, social, economic landscape might be had the other heavy weight person won?

I'm no fan of Hillary but I think she is less of an ideologue than Obama...I imagine the deficit would be a little smaller...there would be no Obamacare/Hillarycare...and the country would not be quite as divided, etc...I may be splitting hairs but I would be interested to hear other responses to that hypothetical question.

    JOE, I don't think you're a full-fledged lib.

I would agree - pesky yes, and somewhat left leaning but certainly not a client of Waxman, Waters, Wasserman and Associates.

sigh...i know most of you folks have not been around quite as long as i....and john dont forget him

but the sad fact is that while hillary was first lady there were way too many nut jobs who subscribed to theories she murdered vince foster for any number of lurid reasons.

when bush was president some people ragged on laura bush for any number of things, including the auto accident in which she was driving, and a friend was killed

now many mock mrs obama for advocating people exercise & eat better. you can hate her politics, you can hate her husbands politics, but when people get all riled up about the govt trying to make us do this or that & invoke the first lady, its stupid....its just advice....if you dont like it go sit on the couch and eat some pork rinds.

i dont know why i needed to rant on first ladies, but overall they have been a decent lot. if the right is disturbed about hillary or michelle, they shouldve had to deal with eleanor roosevelt. she would have driven you mad

Here's a quote from one of her organizations...
"Elected officials offer the unique ability to spur action and bring communities together in solving the obesity challenge. Mayors and municipal officials are encouraged to adopt a long-term, sustainable, and holistic approach to fighting childhood obesity. Let’s Move! recognizes that every city is different, and every town will require its own distinct approach to the issue."

I have no problem with the First Lady suggesting to parents that kids should eat healthy and be more active but it is quite obvious that she does not stop there. Translation of the above quote...strongarm local officials to duplicate efforts of Bloomberg, etc..If the liberals had no track record on desiring to regulate what we eat, what restaurants can sell, portion sizes, salt bans, and school lunch private investigators I don't think people would be so wary. Bottom line is we have the freedom to be skinny, fat, out of shape, in shape...it's our individual choice.

Yeah, it is an interesting debate. Had Hillary won, I think she would have beaten McCain. I tend to think the economy would be in a little better shape as she is a little bit more pragmatic and job focused while being less ideological.

Another thing to think about is how much of Obamacare was Obama and how much was Congress. I think some of it was Obama, he certainly pushed for it. I think Congress would have passed any version Hillary put forward, but I'm not sure healthcare would have been as big of a priority with Clinton. Of course it's all hypothetical.
