Pearl Jam

I will agree with ya about Pearl Jam...Their body of work over the past 20 years is outstanding...Add in the fact they idolize and have tried to pattern their music after The Who, and they top my charts...

On another subject, what band in the past 40 years was the most under-rated??....I say Three Dog Night...From 69-74, the outsold everyone in concert tics, had 21 straight top 40 hits, and grossed more income than any band in America...Those 3 guys could harmonize like few others..

interesting point of view. I like it. My college roommate insists that the drummer for Three dog night was his high school english teacher.

  • The more I hear and see the Foo Fighters the more I think that they are one of the best and that Dave Grohl may have been just as responsible for Nirvanas success as Cobain.

  • IMO the best live band. Best concert ever was at HOB myrtle Beach. I'm a big fan of the smaller venues

Grohl and the Foo Fighters are great without a doubt, but Nirvana was all Cobain.

Nirvana only has three albums. PJ has an icredible body of work including all of thier touring. They became a great live band.

In my opinion, people will still be listening to Nirvana 100 years from now. Not so sure about Pearl Jam, a good- but-not-great band.

    Grohl would admit this.

I have to go with Metallica myself

    no. no. no. NO.
Are you serious? If for no other reason besides they ruined Turned the Page, I will always hate Metallica. Hetfield has one of the most annoying voices of all time and he's the reason for sucky bands like Nickelback growling through their songs.

    I hate Metallica.

  • Also, I can't believe the White Stripes are getting no love. They were almost all that was left of Guitar Classic Rock vibe, and put out a decades worth of great material.

    Agreed.

If I am flipping stations and hear a Nirvana song, I stop.

If I am flipping stations and hear Pearl Jam, I may stop depending on which song it is and what kind of mood I am in.

Hanson could pull of a better Bob Seger cover anyways.

I'm a Nirvana fan... but if I hear Come as You Are, sometimes I say "meh" and turn it. I can't think of a Pearl Jam song I would turn way from on the radio, except maybe for Last Kiss. Even their lesser played singles like State of Love and Trust, and Immortality are awesome. And Yellow Ledbetter is probably the best song between the two bands imo.

I like Metallica - but mainly the older tunes. Not as big on the newer stuff. I do prefer Segar's original for Turn the Page though.

As a side note, my grandmother loved "Ol' Time Rock n' Roll". We play it every New Year's in her memory.

Just depends on personal taste, I suppose. I don't dislike Pearl Jam, just prefer Nirvana. They spoke to me more, I guess.

I was also a big Smashing Pumpkins fan.

It's not that I hate the band as a whole. It's just Hetfields voice. It really really just grinds on me. I can respect the band for putting out some progressive, strong stuff.
