  • Fellow Barnyarders,

After careful consideration and deliberation, I think it is best if we leave these conversations for somewhere else. The aim of this board should be to attract people to The Big Spur, not the opposite.

The barnyard is an off topic board. I'd personally like to see emphasis on music, comedy, sports, movies, TV etc.

  • What do you think of George Clooney? I think he's a great actor. I loved the Descendants. Can't believe he had a party for the commie whack job Obama last night? You think he believes in God?
Is that kind of what you're looking for? (really hope you have a sense of humor!)

  • I think climate change may fall under religious discussion.

Isn't there a legal term, Act of God, used to describe weather phenomenon beyond our control such as hurricanes, floods, volcanoes, and such?

In my line of work, those are "force majeure"

I think that's is latin for "I don't want to do this anymore" or "you can't make me"

  • That sucks. Why not just ban the minority who cause the problems? A majority of the posters on here are fully capable of having good, honest, informative debates without the name calling and mean-spiritedness. And besides - what and who does it really hurt even if a few people do get carried away on a message board with the mean spiritedness? Seriously, so what? I can see banning cursing, etc... but come on. Why can't there be a board where we can discuss these topics with fellow Gamecocks even if there are arguments? And why not the Barnyard? Its not like this board is going to be hopping with other stuff. Why "go somewhere else" when we're on here? I don't get it.

  • Not to mention we're in a Presidential election year. The dominating news story that will be out there for the next 8 months is the election and we're not going to be allowed to discuss on any board on the Big Spur? why not?

I encourage you to read the attached article. We can discuss later. I know it is not quite your cup of tea because I don't think it has its own wikipedia page and it was actually written by someone who has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles on anthropogenic climate change, but it may be good to see what a reasoned, centric, intelligent, experienced, competent, and knowledgeable article about climate change looks like.

  • I think we should poll all gay TBS members and ask them which they find more offensive, Delicious Tacos calling everyone he disagrees with "faggots," or augustacarguy comparing gays getting married to people marrying animals.

Then ban the one that gets the most votes. Let the people with skin in the game decide(no pun intended).

The point illustrates the absurdity of the statement that someone should be able to marry whatever they want. You can't marry an animal or two women or a bridge. I know it's difficult to keep up with, but I think an alum could get it.

Well, if you were Willard Romney's grandfather, or Moses, or the Prophet Abraham, or isaac, or King David or King Soloman you could marry two women at once or a whole lot more. But all that does is prove what a lie it is that "marriage has been between one man and one woman for three thousand years "

I''d like to see a link to anyone who has made the "statement" that "someone should be able to marry WHATEVER they want." But you won't because you're lying that such a "statement" exists.

Now that you've continued to show your extraordinary small-mindness in comparing two consenting adults of the same gender who wish to wed to someone who wants to be with an animal. by adding the comparison with someone who wants to marry a damned inanimate object, i think more and more my poll is a great idea and you are one really messed up dude.

I have not said, and do not believe that people opposed to legalizing gay marriage are necessarily bigoted or homophobic, but if I wished to asset that, I could find no better example than your comparing marrying someone of the same gender to marrying an animal or bridge and using the pronoun "what" rather than "who" to describe gay people as you've just done.

BTW, let me add, and maybe someone will back me up on this, that I believe the majority of people who oppose allowing gay marriage would never be so vulgar and crude as to compare gay marriage to being with an animal or a "bridge." Unless you're interviewing the congregation of the Westboro Baptist Church, that is.

Not leaning either way - but it's not an issue of being able to marry whatever - at issue is being able to marry whomever.

I don't disagree with a lot of your points, but this and your other posts in the thread are the kind of ones that start fights and have gotten politics and religion banned. Making points is one thing, but it seems your posts tend to go beyond that and bait the other side into making insults at you.

I realize the irony of me picking a fight with you for trying to pick a fight, but in all honesty besides Delicious Tacos you are one of the worst offenders.

    I haven't gotten anything banned.

You remind me of Barack Obama offering the GOP a budget bill that's 90% spending cuts and 10% tax increases and then acting all surprised when they reject it and call him a socialist. Darn, If he'd only gone 95%/5% maybe they'd agreed and said nice things about him.

Most political boards are conservatives regurgitating Rush and Fox 24/7 while a few libs bend over and take it.

I seldom call people names and I seldom use adjectives. I stick with facts with links, humor and sarcasm when I have the truth on my side. Otherwise I STFU.

So sorry I stood up to people who want to continue to deny equal protection under the law to gay consenting American adults, compare those folks to sickos wanting to do it with animals and bridgesno and wrap themselves in Jesus Christ while doing it.

My guess is if you were gay and wanted to make a lifetime commitment, or a Christian like me who left the Church for a long time until he finally learned that God is nothing like what augustacarguy and dodgerblue42 say He is you wouldn't be so quick to tell me to just shut up and take it so we can keep peace.

You sound like one of those token Dems on Fox such as Alan Colmes or Juan Williams. Checked their cajones at the door. "Thank you Mr. Murdoch may I have another." At least they're collecting fat paychecks for selling their manhood. What do you get for being a punching bag for conservatives?

Like I said I agree with your overall viewpoints/message. I just think that there is a way to argue debate with someone that isn't guaranteed to start a fight. In several threads today you have brought up the gay marriage issue when it wasn't being discussed.

I'm not sure it's fair to equate me with an Alan Colmes. Outside of ABC, I have been one of the more outspoken liberals on this board and have managed to do so without offending many people.

Just my opinion, but I think you tend to go over line more often than others here do, especially in the threads of the last few days. Other posters (including myself to be sure) are partly culpable as well, but it seems you are a common cause as well.

Joe, you don't need to agree with my viewpoints for me to like you. I like to tell the truth whether it fits my prejudices or not, and I like to make comfortable people squirm.

My philosophy was best summed up by post-op transvestite Ann Coulter on Sean Hannity's show during the 2008 campaign. She was on one of her kicks where she referred to Obama as "B. Hussein Obama," She did it over and over and finally even Hannity says to her, laughing, "why do you keep calling him that." Coulter replied, "because it's his name, and because I think it's funny."

That's me in a nutshell. I'm the guy who if I had lived in Willard Romney's dorm in prep school, after he beat up that gay kid and cut his hair, would have stuffed foil gum wrappers in the keyhole of Willard's dorm room door until his key wouldn't work, and then flushed the toilet everytime he took a shower so he'd get scorched by hot water.

I'm a pus-filled boil on the back of the pompous, situated right in the middle where they can't reach it to pop it themselves, so they have to gross out their girlfriend and ask her to do it, and then not know what to say when she seems to kinda enjoy it.

    Or something like that.

I'm going to assume it's on purpose that clemson is the only proper noun in your post not capitalized. Well done.

Do those Exxon commercials highlighting the US is 17th in the world in science education piss you off too? I mean, think of all the money they spend privately trying to discredit science, just to turn around and try to act like they're part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

Great point on the Exxon commercials. When you don't pay any taxes, you can afford to buy Paul Ryan's soul and run those bogus commercials. The cost of which they then deduct from their taxes. banghead
