Pro Athletes Salary

  • I avoided reading this because I figured it would be the usual rant but this is even better than I thought. I think what should be done is exactly what you say but give it to Obama and he can use it to pay for all the dept we have with college loans because we sure ain't going to get it back any other way.

Seriously though I hope Obama doesn't read this board cause if he did we would likely see this as part of his overall plan.

  • I think that what the OP is trying to say is that our priorities are out of order.

  • That's what's wrong in America these days...capitalism under attack and economic ignorance. The free market determines the salaries.

I cannot appropriately respond to this post as it is not in the Barnyard...although some of these posts are making my head hurt...we need to quit mixing the football and politics...

This definitely seems like one for the 'Yard

Salaries are predicated upon what the market allows therefore they cannot be out of control. If the pro teams were borrowing the money to pay the salaries and then had the gov't bail them out to keep them afloat then I would agree with you point.

Well, salaries in the NFL are artificially capped, so they're not entirely based on the "market." Just a minor point. I don't begrudge athletes for making a lot of money, but I do hate it when guys on teams I like make tons of money and suck. That's for different reasons.

You should try visiting a country where there is real poverty. People who think there is poverty in this country should visit parts of Latin America or Africa where the poor actually are starving.

And the fact that we don't have millions of people living in squalid slums and starving is the result of magic?

aren't several teams bound by salary pay caps?

Tonight's draft has me thinking..pro athletes make WAY too much money. Their salaries should be cut in half and that money should be used to fix real problems like poverty in this country.

You sir are an uninformed moron who has no idea how economics and a free market economy work.

Disagree. It's almost impossible to live on minimum wage. Not to mention being under-appreciated

Minimum wage is not designed for heads of households jackass. Less than 1/10 of 1% of heads of households earn minimum wage.

How much money do you make annually? Maybe the board should arbitrarily decide if you're overpaid, confiscate your money, and give it to the less fortunate.
