Romney's new ad destroyed alrerady....

  • No actually, you didn't build that with your own hands. Without the government, this man would NOT have a business.

  • Yeah, that was a REALLY dumb choice. Should have picked someone who really did build their business on their own.

Which would be no one in this country. How many businesses dont use infrastructure? Roads, bridges, water lines, sewer, etc? I can't think of any.

  • it is hard to find people who actually built their own businesses brick by brick with no help, loans, friends & family, whatever

that being said, obama should by now be a better campaigner than to even say the words, even if taken out of context, you just are begging for pain

that romney tried to agitate the brits seems to take some steam out, but this is going to be a long ugly lying campaign on both sides. in other words business as usual

Agreed, I wasn't happy when he said that. Not because it wasn't true, but because I knew that ignorant people would end up buying the repub propaganda. You already hear it, and whats worse is most of the people repeating the views given in Romney's ad have never owned a business and try to pretend like they do or will.

And yes this will be the ugliest campaign ever. I'm actually glad that Obama has taken a page from the republican playbook by going negative and doing it often.

  • when you stop repeating the left-wing propoganda, it truely will be a miracle.

There are roads in communist China & Cuba, in the former USSR. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with building a business. I thought all you libs believed that taxing us more was to build the infrastructure, not businesses.

The small business person is the backbone of this nation and most did it without gov't support. Gov't taxes, regulations, & unneeded involvement slows the progress down.

Obama did not have to take a page from the GOP to go negative. If you have a memory, you will recall that Hillary called him nasty negative in 2007/2008. But, of course, that does not help you heap blame on the right, does it?

If roads have nothing to do with businesses succeeding why did South Carolina spend a large portion of the $1 billion in subsidies for Boeing on roads?

And, BTW if government can't help build businesses why did we spend ONE PENNY of taxpayers' money for Boeing?

  • I did not say govt COULDNOT help or build businesses. I said that most small business owners did it on their own.

The roads, bridges, etc are there for everyone not just businesses so please do not attribute them to making a business successful. Are the schools you graduated from responsible for your education/degree or did you earn it/them? The nuts & bolts of success are personal sacrifice/hard work/divine intervention/etc not the gov't.

Spending money to lure Boeing to SC is not making Boeing successful. I did not say gov't could not help, I am saying gov't help is not necessary for success or even needed/wanted by small businesses.

We must all separate the fact and fiction. Gov't is not Santa giving presents to everyone or a Saint taking care of anyone. Gov't big enough to give you everything is big enough to take it all away. Why are you so anxious to defend the gov't and "prove" that they are the source of business success? Is this part of the "blame the rich" campaign? Is the left afraid of individual success? How about lets all be happy for small business success, for personal success, for person responsibility. Is that so wrong?

Then why did the guy in the Romney commercial take $800,000 in federal revenue bond proceeds and $1 million in federally guaranteed loans as the OP showed?

Maybe he's just not a very good small businessman as well as a liar.

the funny thing is that now our infrastructure is beginning to fall apart, given age, the repeated weird weather patterns & neglect

the infrastructure needs repairing. who is going to do it? a self starter? a dynamic individual?

who built the national road in the early days? canals? all along it took a combination of combined spending on needed infrastructure & mechanisms as well as the initative of individuals

its a silly argument. obama made a dumb choice of words, like romney with the olympics. from there morons share silly laughs. i do it too, but is a complete joke. i just like everybody to be in on the jokes, dont leave anybody out

it takes individual initiative, it takes the community wanting to have an enviornment where individuals can thrive. its a two way street, and without government intiatives we would be worse off, though many flop. many individual intitiative flop

all or nothing. my side or chaos. what a crock. there aint that much difference between romney and obama, its mostly existing in the minds of gullible fools

    Thanks for the links.

Republicans sees a working man struggling to get by on low wages and immediately cry "beggar." They see a rich man or corporation with their hand out and fall all over themselves to offer a Scotch and a blow job along with a license to steal.

All the while bragging how much they love Jesus.

  • More businesses fail than succeed. Why is that? Do roads and bridges and infrastructure help them fail?

If nobody succeeds on their own, then who built America? The British? I guess we should be sending them tax money then.

    A) No, unless infrastructure was so bad that it drove away or limited business. This is probably very rarely the case

    B) America was built by a variety of factors: Entrepreneurship, government investment in infrastructure, slave labor, constant waves of immigrants, large amounts of unsettled land, well educated citizens because of government funded universities, etc. The list goes on and on. Some of it was rugged individualism, but some of it was a result of the government action. Also worth noting that some of it was also due to luck. Not many other countries got a completely blank slate, no real foreign enemies, millions of square miles of unsettled land in temperate climates, etc.

People are getting way too worked up over this line. Obama was just using the "it takes a village" schtick. It's not that complicated
