  • it may be stupid, its not for me to judge, but really, romney has not won any southern states. florida i dont count as southern

this means maybe not much, but is telling. the south is the most reliable voting region for the gop. if the region is that unexcited about the potential nominee, that is a bad sign. not that obama would win southern states, but if folks are just not that hopped up on mitt, its going to hurt his turnout among the base nationwide.

he could select a southerner as running mate, but that wont help. he needs to shore up his base with the veep & he also needs to try to reach independents. that will be a tough choice

either way obama looks to recapture the white house

No one in this race excites the base. They all are liars and looking out for themselves. Romney will probably be the nominee based on the "establishment" which is a crying shame. The GOP needs a new face with enthusiasm and charisma, like Marco Rubio and Alan West. ABC, I will agree with you on this, unless the old white, establishment men get out of the way, the GOP is handing the election to BHO. As America dies more each day, I recall a famous quote....all it takes for evil to succeed is for one good man to do nothing.

going with rubio or west does nothing for romney where he would need the most help. the election will be won, imho, in ohio-penn-wisc region.

the south is going to vote for whomever runs against obama, with virginia & nc as chances for obama to push through. but still, i expect the south to go for romney. rubio is hispanic that might help in a big demographic area.

another factor is foreign policy. romney sells his economics, but the president does have to kill people. mitt is a nonentity on foreign affairs. add rubio & you have two foreign affairs unknowns

not an easy choice for romney

This post is the opposite of reality. Dodge, do yourself a favor and read the attached column by Ann Coulter explaining how ridiculous this is. By the way, is she part of this imaginary 'establishment' supporting Romney? The only people who will be handing the election to Obama are people like Palin, etc....who keep trying to drag this primary process out longer and longer. A few months ago Romney was polling better than O in every single swing State. But the longer this process lasts, the worse his #s are getting in those Swing States and with Independents. And THAT is the crying shame.

Bizarrely, the establishment is denouncing Mitt Romney as 'too establishment.'

ann coulter is a gop man

sorry, i could not stop myself. in re ann, it appears she has decided to get off the looney train & go rational. good for her. i think bottom line she knows romney has it in the bag, why bother beating up on the eventual nominee

the gop has forgotten reagans old rule of not speaking ill of another republican. we shall see how that works out

  • ABC I'm finding myself agreeing with you way too often often of late.

I always knew that deep-down you've always been a big Coulter fan. I bet you're in the process of reading "Demonic" right now, aren't you?

what i find amusing is that bill mahr & coulter are friends. i think that should cause the heads of some people to explode right there

mahr is a comedian. he is trying to get laughs. he goes to horrid extremes but sometimes i laugh despite myself. coulter can be funny as well. but the ideas sold in her books, no thanks, i dont need to slow down for that. nor from anything written by michael moore either

partisan poltical books are fun, but wholly unrelated to reality too often.

being called a nazi, demonic, us leftists have been called everything. and its hurtful

I've said it a few times on here, but if Mitt wants to win he should convince Ron Paul to run with him. Ron Paul is a bit of a nut, but he has a dire-hard base and is very popular among young voters and independants. I am 21, and you would not believe the amount of people my age who support Paul. My guess would be he is the most popular candidate in the under 25 or under 30 age bracket. Paul as VP would bring in a lot of voters who otherwise wouldn't even go to the polls.

My theory is that all of the more charismatic candidates are waiting it out until 2016. If the Republicans had an Obama, I think they'd win going away.
