Thoughts on four movies I saw last week...

How do you know?, Tron, The Fighter and True Grit.
I would rank them...
1. True Grit- It's one of those movies you have to pay close attention to, but the dialogue is outstanding and Jeff Bridges should be nominated for an Oscar. The girl was excellent too.
2. The Fighter- I don't see how Christian Bale doesn't win some sort of award. Amy Adams was excellent, too. Very well-written and directed. The previews made it seem like the same old, same old boxing movie, but it really wasn't.
3. Tron- Pretty good 20-year later follow-up. Interesting story. I didn't like the way it ended and there were some herky-jerky things about the plot.
4. How do you know? Wife wanted to see it, but it was a very uneven romantic comedy. The cast just didn't seem to jell and there were elements of it that were unrealistic and stupid.
Best movie I've seen all year is The Town, BTW.

I thought The Town was amazing...best of the year so far.
I saw Little Fockers on Christmas Day. Not bad, some funny moments, but the franchise has run it's course.

It was originally 4 hours. The studio made them cut it down to under 2 hours and 10 minutes. It's supposed to released on DVD in the full version at some point.

Agree on True Grit...Great movie and Bridges is one of the best right now...
Like The Town, but agree that Inception was the best movie of the year

Watched Inception yesterday and enjoyed it but got lost a few times.
So I watched It again. For me its one of those movies you have to see twice to really to start to get it.
Question. How many levels did they go down?

thought The town was okay. good not great. I enjoyed Gone Baby Gone more for the affleck boston movie. really want to see The Fighter, great true story.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest..
its not going to win an oscar by any means, but a good movie and I had to see it after reading the books and seeing the first 2 movies...
Only frustrating thing with it is that is was supposed to be a series of 10 books, but author dies after 3 (4... widow refuses to release the next book)
