Wasserman and another twist of irony

  • Or is just the way politics works?

Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz has criticized Mitt Romney's investments outside the U.S., including in Swiss banks.

On a Sunday talking point show she offered the following point:

"Americans need to ask themselves, why does an American businessman need a Swiss bank account and secretive investments like that?" said Wasserman Schultz, who has been one of President Barack Obama's attack surrogates as part of his campaign.. "Just something, a thought, that I'd like to leave folks with."

But financial disclosure forms indicate the Florida congresswoman held funds with investments in Swiss banks, foreign drug companies, and the state bank of India, reports The Weekly Standard.

  • Right wing conspiracy...I tell you! Next you making up some story about John Kerry dodging taxes on his yacht or that Joe Biden doesn't give to charity. Outright lies from Fox. There's just no way!

  • Everyone screws up that word. That's not irony, its hypocrisy.

Since everyone screws it up by using "ironic" inappropriately, I'm thinking probably everyone knew what was meant

However, you are absolutely correct, hypocrisy is much like the old adage do as I say - not as I do. Being for the benefit of Mr Kite ... hypocrisy is claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform.

Let me get this straight. The right-wing echo machine says Debbie is a hypocrite because she criticized Willard for having SECRET foreign investments, when she.has foreign investments herself.

The way the right wing echo machine knows Debbie has foreign investments is because they read it on her financial disclosure form, available to the public, where she listed them.

  • perchance dear doctor john, is there a distinction between having a swiss bank account as opposed to having investments that might include some shares of a bank in the alps?

i saw that, come on, the local yokels will fall for everything, not i.

i am making an appearance tonight on piers morgan. i will threaten to beat the crap out of that limey & if your saxon ass dont shape up, you need to ship out

I'll be watching America's Got Talent - Stern is much better than Piers Morgan

according to Goethe - Of all the thieving riff-raff, fools are the worst. They steal both your time and your good mood.
