i dont even have to try to make a joke like the little dutch boy. it splains itself
i can offer sort of an observation about what mitty is trying to say: i was a socialist before obama was a socialist
if he would say that out loud it would make sense to everybody
next mitty claims credit for saving joan rivers face

Should the President be claiming responsibility for "saving" the auto industry? I thought it was the taxpayers who fronted the money and are still owed billions of dollars. Ford survived without taking bailout money didn't they? Why wasn't this an option for GM and Chrysler? Honda and Toyota survived their supply chains being offline for nearly a year due to the earthquake/tsunami. Why can't the union heavy GM conduct business without government handouts? Is the President also going to take credit for "saving" the solar industry?

Saved the auto industry? We bailed out private companies and particularly the unions and their pensions on the taxpayer dime...the auto industry was fine...plenty of companies were doing just fine...paying their bills, and making money every time they sold a car. Please be more specific next time.

You need to contact Dubya and tell him this. He gave the money to GM and Chrysler, Obama followed with more, after the heads of GM and Chrysler told him they wouldn't survive without it. The heads of Ford, Toyota and Honda also lobbied Dubya and Paulson to help GM and Chrysler because they feared being devastated by the loss of their suppliers who needed GM and Chrysler to stay afloat.
Dubya took the money out of already appropriated TARP money, as did Obama later. It didn't cost the taxpayer anything MORE. It just mean less bailout cash left for Wall Street and the hedge funds.
Interesting that, as Rick Santorum pointed out, Willard was fine with bailing out his fellow hedge fund managers, but drew the line at Dubya and Obama doing the same for the car companies.
Somewhere there's a hedge fund billionaire who had to sell one of his vacation homes on the Hamptons just so Dubya and Obama could save a few million jobs in the auto and related industries. And that just breaks Willard's heart.
