    thanks for the correction on spelling.

    their excuse when arrested along with another character later developed into the story they were going to dispose of radical literature

    shortly after their trial the wall street bomb went off, quite likely planted by one of their acquaintances in the movement

    that being the case, they were convicted more on the passion & fears of the old line residents than on evidence

    but, its still somewhat murky. one bullet from the body of a victim was consistent with saccos gun, but strangely only one bullet of that caliber was pumped into the body, with no indication more than one shooter was existing

    in other words, the evidence was likely planted by the locals. perhaps they were guilty,but their trial was a farce, by modern standards

    to be fair, judicial procedures were improved directly because of the case.

    a jury in 1920s was quite unlikely to give a fair trial to reds anarchists etc.

    great mystery story, still after nearly 100 years
