For the better part of a decade, Tony Morrell has been the authority on Gamecock football and recruiting. He answers your questions every weekday in the Ask Tony thread.
Quarles- likelyhood he plays this weekend. I have less faith then ever on the things we hear from the coaches about things like this.
Teams usually play with a chipon thier shoulder after a loss, where effort and heart are being questioned. A loss is bad, no mistake about it- but I really think we play with a chip on our shoulder this week. Thoughts?
330 game at the swamp, compared to 800 game at LSU. I think this week is a easier venue. Comments
I would be shocked if the D does not play better. I know you give your 5 keys later in the week- but I cant imagine the D not bringing it this week. Thoughts?
Do you think we abandoned the run too early against LSU?
Tony, what are your thoughts on Clowney's comments?
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.
Please compare the OL's of Georgia, LSU and Florida
I understand that Lattimore is a straight up the middle bruiser! With that being said, and the OL being out performed, why the heck didn't we use the option more?? Why didn't we use Lattimore more (or should I say- any- in the second half). He is an exceptional receiver and we needed to throw the ball to him as well. We looked out of sink from the get go. This was actually the first time that I have ever seen Shaw frazzeled to the point that he couldn't preform to the caliber of talent he is. He still has a great win/loss record (only his second loss) and will bounce back next week. I've never, and never will agree that a loss is what a team needs to get back on track. Somehow we got off our game strategy and still, STILL almost beat a great caliber team. GO COCKS!!!!!
I thought the difference in the last drive for our last TD was that we got to line and ran the play called and did not spend time looking at the sideline and Conner having to running around telling everyone which play we were running. Time wasted, time for the crowd to go nuts, and time for the defense to get set. Yours thoughts please.
666 Mark asked what the group of 20 I was with all said - what was the gameplan on offense? Recognizing that LSU is good on D, LSU at night, and loud noise..... it looked like a poorly called game or poor audibles. You could list 10 different examples, but in the 1st quarter on 3rd and 2 we go right into the teeth of the Defense and do nothing twice and then I think the 3rd time Spurrier lost it. Then we seem to find some rhythm throwing 5 yard outs to Sanders and we stop it. Then we run the option to perfection on a series and we stop it. We had little TE action in the 1st half or really until Cunningham's beautiful catch and beautiful designed play. They were ropa-doping us at the line and we seemed to become schizophrenic. Now, we all know Spurrier can be a bit scatterbrained and can lose patience, but we seemed to really lose patience. Up 14-10, my real question is what was Spurrier trying to do? I recognize that the team that played better and controlled line of scrimmage won, but my thought is that we could have stolen one as Spurrier suggested.
Tony or anyone, what are jorts? I've seen it a lot on TBS mostly referring to Florida.
It looked like Conner tried to scramble for yards to quickly and never seemed comfortable throwing the ball.
Do you think he tries to hard not to make a mistake instead of just letting it go.
He never seems to step up into the pocket but likes to get outside, do you think its due to his success runnig the ball.
We are missing the tall reciever who can go up and get the ball, DL Moore is not consistent or reliable. Do u see us putting Shaq or someone else in this role. Such as put ACE in Moore spot when Roland is in.
Jorts= jeans + shorts. Term is used in a derogatory manner.
