    It's always easy to tell who the young'uns are along with those who weren't raised around the word RESPECT on this board. Good character should never be set aside in the name of sports...that's why the word SPORTSMANSHIP is in the dictionary.

    If I had my way about this issue, the military teams we play against would be brought out onto the field, introduced by our announcer, the National Anthem would be played and these young men who will be risking their lives for our feedom would be given a standing ovation for their service to our country. The world would get to see a fan base with some real class and we would set the standard for how our military should be honored...even on the football field.

    It would be awesome to hear the announcer say ... "Ladies & Gentlemen, please stand and give a standing ovation to these young men who serve their country and risk their lives for our freedom. Never forget that without them and the many others serving in our military branches that this would not be the great country we live in today."

    When the game starts, let the teams fight it out on the field.

    After the game...win or lose, our fans should still show respect to these young men and thank them for serving their country. They are after all, part of the reason you and I have this thing we know as freedom. But a lot of you aren't familiar with the word RESPECT. It saddens me to see our younger generations being so self serving and so lacking of character. How sad that America is going to pot, even when it comes to football. Those of you to whom I am referring may now start downvoting...enjoy it. That is what I have come to expect from you.

  • Was at the Army-Navy game last year:

    I almost had a nervous breakdown. Army was booing Navy. Navy was booing Army. I looked down and saw the pain on the faces of those players on the sideline-- the boos cascading down were bringing them to their knees. The ball was being fumbled because of all the tears.

    But that wasn't the worst of it. A Golden Knight paratrouper came down at halftime with a cape that said 'Beat the HELL out of Navy.'

    Our country got weaker that day. I'm still not over it. Get me the vapors!!! I think I'm gonna faint!

    This whole issue is pathetic, ridiculous and absurd. They are the opponent for 3 hours on Saturday. We are supposed to boo them. This is football.

    Booing an opponent doesn't make you classless, it makes you normal. I just envision all the Gamecock old-timers who used to be in the good seats until they had to pay something other than 1982 prices. Most of those clowns were the ones who'd get riled up about something like this.

    Again, this is silly.

    I dont think I said boo them no matter what, and sportsmanship is for those actually playing in the game or on one of the teams. Class is for the fans, and generally booing an opponent, academy or not, is not classless.

    Again this is silly. If someone boos they boo. If they don't they don't. Silly.
