Whatever you do, DO NOT Boo Navy

  • "I don't boo anybody, but refs when they make a bad call"

We're not soulless robots, we have feelings, too. :(

  • On Saturday, they're our opponent. I won't boo 'em but I'm certainly not going to cheer when they come out.

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

  • I think we should have an actual red carpet leading from their locker room to their sideline. Between series, our cheerleaders should give them neck rubs and bring them cold beverages.

Was at the Army-Navy game last year:

I almost had a nervous breakdown. Army was booing Navy. Navy was booing Army. I looked down and saw the pain on the faces of those players on the sideline-- the boos cascading down were bringing them to their knees. The ball was being fumbled because of all the tears.

But that wasn't the worst of it. A Golden Knight paratrouper came down at halftime with a cape that said 'Beat the HELL out of Navy.'

Our country got weaker that day. I'm still not over it. Get me the vapors!!! I think I'm gonna faint!

    That's hilarious. Upvote for you.

It will b a total disgrace if we boo navy. These kids will be the 1's leading our country in war in the future. So if you feel like disrespecting your country then that's your problem but dnt make gamecock nation a part of that. Total lack of class to any think that y'all would even think of booing.

  • This is from the Post and Courier today:

    Not intimidated

Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said playing in front of 80,000 fans at Williams-Brice Stadium should be no big deal for the Midshipmen.

Navy played at Notre Dame and Ohio State in 2009. The Midshipmen beat Notre Dame, 23-21, and lost to the Buckeyes, 31-27, in 2009.

'We've been to the Horseshoe and Notre Dame and they were both very impressive venues,' Niumatalolo said. 'I think it was Military Appreciation Day at Ohio State, and they actually clapped for us when we got on the field. I doubt the South Carolina fans will do that.'

The Midshipmen have been using loud speakers during practice this week to simulate the crowd noise they expect on Saturday.

'We're trying to recreate that kind of atmosphere,' Niumatalolo said. 'I don't know if that's possible without about 14 more speakers. I know the players are excited about playing an SEC school that is contending for a national championship. If you can't get up for this one, I don't have a motivational speech that will help.'

    ______

Sounds like they almost beat Ohio State after Ohio State's fans clapped for them.

You do understand it's a game right? They're not boarding a ship to go to war. We're cheering against them in a GAME!!!

  • I just got off the phone with a buddy that went to the Naval Academy. He told me their was a rumor going around in Annapolis that there may be some potential booing going on in Columbia this weekend. After about ten minutes of straight sobbing on the phone to me about it, he said about 150 or so cadets tried to drop out of school immediately out of pure disgust with the rumor. He told me this directly: "We go through countless hours of military training to put us in the best shape possible both mentally and physically. However, there is one thing that we have never been trained to withstand and that is booing." I was really looking forward to seeing him, but he decided to cancel his flight. Just couldn't bear the thought of us booing them in a football game. Oh well, maybe I'll see him around Christmas.

  • So some of my classmates from that Mickey Mouse Military School (tip of the cap to mama's lil Cockstar) down in Charleston are coming in town for the game tomorrow.

Problem is, some of my Navy buds have friends that went to "The Academy." They are coming down and plan on pre gaming at my house. Unfortunately, the wife just told me we don't have enough food. She thinks this is a problem.

But, as always, I have a plan. As soon as they set foot on my front sidewalk, I am going to boo the piss out of them. BOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Then I will yell ACC....ACEEEEECEEE like we used to yell at the refs during Clemson and NC State games in the 80's. BOOOOO!!! And they will scatter like roaches in the daylight.

You see, a Navy man can live 6 mths on a submarine with all dudes. He can withstand the cold, wet, sandy days of BUDS training, the chafing and the sleepless nights of hell week. A Navy man can train bottle nosed dolphins to find explosives.

There is but one little known species that will stop a Navy man dead in his tracks. That rare animal? The Boo-bird. Only found in its natural habitat at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Silly. Completely silly. I bet if we polled the Navy players, (1) they don't give a rat's behind and (2) they'd feel disrespected if we didn't boo.

This whole issue is pathetic, ridiculous and absurd. They are the opponent for 3 hours on Saturday. We are supposed to boo them. This is football.

Booing an opponent doesn't make you classless, it makes you normal. I just envision all the Gamecock old-timers who used to be in the good seats until they had to pay something other than 1982 prices. Most of those clowns were the ones who'd get riled up about something like this.

    Again, this is silly.

Well maybe we should not disappoint Mr. high and mighty Niumatolo. I have two immediate family members that served in the Navy (one in Desert Storm). He is also a Gamecock fan because of me. He damn well knows I am going to boo them like every other team that comes out of that tunnel in our house. He, also knows I thoroughly respect the military, and one has nothing to do with the other in this instance. As he said if the shoe was on the other foot I'd boo too. I know he'd boo Army if USC played them, and my F-I-L a 21 year army vet (Desert storm also) would boo Navy. As the great Cobb said "we didn't hold hands with the men on the other team, they were the enemy and we fought with them". THE US NAVY is to be respected 24/7/365 as are all armed forces. However, the Naval Academy football team is to be treated as the enemy from the time they walk on the field this evening until the game is over.
