??? for JC, Tony, others on recruiting in Texas...

Now that the SEC has a inroad into Texas with the addition of A&M, does anyone feel we need to actively recruit the state??
We cannot sacrifice our efforts in already proven areas, IMHO, but I see no reason not to assign a coach to make a few contacts, and possibly go after a few select kids...

Probably not much if ever. We almost never recruit in Louisiana and that is a pretty good state for talent. If anyone is going to cash in on in-state connections to the SEC, it is going to be A&M themselves.

Im not proposing spending a lot of time or effort ... Texas has as many good players as any state in America, outside of California, therefore, why not at least make a few contacts and gauge possible interest.. What do we have to lose??
I would be interested to hear the thoughts of Plano.
One final thought, before Mangus arrived, New Jersey provided nothing....If any of our coaches has any contacts in Texas, why not try??

Doubt it unless we get an asst coach with ties to Tx. Look at NJ as an example. Elliot has ties there that's why we have recruited well there the last two years. I would expect to see UF start pulling talent out of there due to Muschamp's ties.

JMO, but I don't think it helps us at all. What I think it does is helps teams much closer to Texas, and give A&M an extreme boost. There are other states that are closer that we rarely, if ever, try to recruit. We tend to like to stick to areas that we have ties to.
