Actually, they did have the number 1 linebacker class in the nation last year so I agree with elite talent at that position. I have no idea about venables ability to coach though. If he was so great, why was he demoted to co-defensive coordinator at OU this season?

it was years ago on sportsalk. he used to come on there... every day, or a couple of times a week. i can't remember. but he said a recruit was going to go to clemson, and that carolina never had a chance. he was really crude about it. just like they all are now. anyway, the player committed to carolina, and a carolina fan called up and told philpot he was a jackass. instead of laughing about it, philpot went ballistic. it was funny as crap. and the caller thought it was funny too. people talked about it on the message board all the time for awhile. just reading this thread, it sounds like the player may have been travian roberts, and the caller was cock father. i think it was travian roberts, and philpot was ticked off about it. but i didn't know who cockfather was at the time, and can't say if he was the caller.

another good one that i think should be in the "hall of fame" was a poster on the tater board named jack bailey. for 3 years he said the ncaa was going to drop the hammer on us, for all kinds of major recruiting violations during holtz's tenure. he said he had a buddy on the usc board of trustees. it seemed like he said the ncaa was going to announce our major penalties every tuesday for 2 or 3 years. he was a legend on the tiger board. (he really had me depressed too. no one knew if he was full of crap or not.) then when nothing happened to us, and all of the original, outlandish allegations were proven false, someone posted a picture of a sad looking person sitting on the ground with a pumkin on his head. i thought at the time, that was about the funniest thing i ever saw. that picture was around for a couple of years. now i don't know if anybody else remembers that. but it was sooooo funny at the time. and the taters were furious, because they were promised we were going to get the death penalty.
