11 Win Rings... In This Thread

  • Those few of you that are dissing the rings don't know much about sports obviuosly.... most rings are huge. They're usually not something you're gonna wear on a daily basis, but are sysmbols if accomplishments. Most people display them in a case in a prominent place and take em out for special occasions.
    .
Kyle Nunn stopped by our spot and showed us his rings... nice.

Also, to get rings for anything less than a conference title is unnecessary.

You get my vote (no ring though) for stupidest post of the day.

The rings are a RECRUITING TOOL for one, just in case you haven't noticed Spurrier showing them off on ESPN every chance he gets.

And for a FIRST in anything, first to the North Pole, first to climb Everest or first USC team to win eleven games then YES celebration is allowed. IF USC was Alabama and this was just one of many double digit win seasons then you'd be right, but USC isn't Bama and our players should be proud and celebrate this first for USC and the fact that most of these kids would rather have this ring than a Best Buy gift card is AWSOME imo.

Stop being such a joyless Grinch.

No, I think it looks ridiculous because it's so big....and so do the rings the baseball team got for the natty title. Too damn gaudy.

Also, to get rings for anything less than a conference title is unnecessary.

Probably gonna get dinged a bit for this - have to agree w/ you 12Pac, getting a ring for anything less the the conference championship is a bit over the top, as Coach Spurrier mentioned today at the game, they have accomplished a long list of "firsts", perhaps a comemorative season/game ball or helmet would have served just as well.

There's a whole bunch of guys that are glad you don't make that decision.

  • Pretty sure most teams get rings for winning bowl games. I like these.

Comparing sec and acc is dumb...so I'm not downplaying yalls....

But Dabo pisses me off so badly when he calls our 2009 Atlantic representation in the acc champ game a "championship"

I guess you can win the acc atlantic or sec east "title".

Did they get rings for winning the sec east?

5-0 vs east for spurrier is big deal. Regardless of. How good the west is...going undefeated vs the east will always be a huge deal to sos. Add winning at knoxville, at athens, clemson for 3rd straight, 2nd over UF...

It might be Spurriers best ever year in Columbia, and if I was a fan...the ring would symbolize his tenure at carolina more so than 11 wins. 2 in row vs all those teams in east...perfect against east and 3rd row vs clemson capped by dominating bowl win.

Pretty damn good, and if it best spurrier ever does..u will be glad they did rings.

You are a closet Carolina fan. Process complete. Thanks for being a realist instead of a delusionist. Your brethren need a swift kick in the nads.

I've heard from numerous CU fans "congrats for finishing 5th in the SEC". Guess what, they are just jealous haters wishing they could compete in our conference. When was the last time CU won 11 games? 1981, a season they won the NC under speculation due to allegations of cheating. 31 years ago. Clemson fans love living in the past.

I tell all those naysayers that I rather finish 5th in the SEC, the best conference in the country, with 11 wins than finish 1st in arguably the 5th best conference in the country. #hatersgonnahate

As far as I'm concerned, and this is just my opinion, the team and program deserve the recognition and commentation. 11 wins in a season is a tremendous accomplishment, especially in the SEC. The fact is that this was the best season in our beloved school's history. They deserve some bling.

  • The rings represent the Bowl game win first, SOS wanted to add the 11 for the schools first 11 win season. How could that be wrong? You guys are aware that all bowl teams get bowl rings right? So what is the complaint?
