2013 draft...Looking ahead

  • Potential first rounders: Devin Taylor & DJ Swearinger (of course, Lattimore if he goes early, but I personally think he stays).
I know most people will disagree since they think our LB's are mediocre, but I think Bowens will be our next pick. He's big, strong, & fast and with a good year I think he will blow up with his measurables at the combine.
Devonte Holloman (2nd or 3rd rounder maybe)
    Late rounders: Auguste, Johnson
    Others???

  • Unfortunately for DJ safeties are down valued in the draft unless they are special. I see DJ late 2nd at best probably a 3rd rounder.

I agree on safeties, however, there are 2 likely to go 1st round this year and Swearinger could end up being one of the top safeties with a chance to be the best next year. Most likely a 2nd rounder though.

  • Very early, and as we know, guys can jump a bunch in a year (e.g. Melvin Ingram), but I would think Swearinger projects to be a 3rd or 4th rounder. Just a guess on my part.

    Plano

  • I think Demario Jeffrey and Quin Smith could both end up being drafted if they both have good seasons. At the very least I think they get a shot to make a team as a free agent.

I also don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that TJ Johnson or Justice Cunningham will get a shot to make a team, be it late in the draft or as a free agent.

  • No way should Latt stay. RB's only have so many years before they wear down and Spurrier knows that. Holloman and Bowens are sleepers for the first few rounds. And I'm still waiting on D.L. Moore to put it all together.

  • clowney.

and i agree on reggie bowens. He just has to stay healthy, do what he did last year and then show the measurables at the combine and he's all set to get rich.

Clowney won't be eligible for the draft until after the 2013 season.

i thought they just had to be 2 years removed from high school to enter? No?

three years removed from HS. Could do a year at prep and 2 in college (see Clifton Geathers - great decision he made).

  • Mybe I'm totally off here, but Emmanuel cook went undrafted and ko Simpson was a second day pick, I think. Cannot conceive of swearinger going in first round barring a massive season from him.

Agreed but I think you would agree that has little to do with DJ and more to do how safeties are a dime a dozen in the NFL. Plus I think Dj is twice the safety as E Cook, IMO.

Edit: also, Ko left after only playing two seasons(redshirt) and E Cook after three. So Dj will also be a year older than both, and a year more polished in SEC play. A four year starter hass a much better resume` than either of the other two players. Plus again, I think he is better than E Cook. Ko was such a freak in his own right, totally different kind of safety than DJ Imo.

  • I think DBU will strike again and Victor Hampton will go fairly high. I see him as a shutdown corner with her very good measurables.

  • If he has even a half decent grade I think Vic is gone. He is incredibly skilled and talented.

Disagree, Latti wants that degree like his Mother asked him to get. Adding to the fact he got hurt - doesn't leave unless he is a top 5 pick.
