A little tidbit on a slow day

  • I had lunch with a customer this week in Charlotte. He knows I'm a big Gamecock fan. He told me that one of his neighbors is a freshman on our team. Drew Owens. He told me that Drew is a great kid from a great family. He spoke very highly of all of them.

Not only have we seen our talent upgraded over the last few years, I think we've also upgraded the character of our team too.

    Strongly agree here.

Absolutely agree. The days of opening the paper on any given day and reading about another player in the news for all the wrong reasons are gone. The transformation that has taken place was needed and has played a large part in the improvement of this program.

    Good post.

You could tell the kid was very smart and very grounded from his recent interview. No doubt he'll be able to become a really good contributor to this team for several years.

  • Joe that is an excellent point and in my opinion is just as important as the talent level increasing. One of the things that stood out to me in the Jela Duncan interview is that he was a yes sir, no sir kind of guy.

  • i think one area that Spurrier has not been given NEARLY enough recognition is that he has totally changed. the character and personality of Gamecock Football. While the media will not let Garcia move on from his prior actions, they have NEVER written about the transformation of the football team from a bunch out of control and one where it was "always something" to a team that we all love and are proud of---win or lose.
