A warning to FL & KY before SEC play begins...

  • We have the athletes to compete with you. We have the ability to run the floor and play defense like you. We may not rebound as well and definitely can't shoot as well but on any given night the ball can bounce our way and the shots can fall. I watched a good bit of the OH ST game and saw us getting the same open shots as they did. The difference was they hit the majority of them and we didn't. We only lost that game by 8 if I recall. I know some are going to say I am really stretching here but we lost because of potentially 3 baskets. If they miss two of their 3 pointers and we hit one more of ours or any other combination of misses and makes you want to use we win. My point is we have the athletes to compete but just can't shoot. I'm going on record that we will win 1 of the 4 games we have with them. However I am also going on record that we will lose some games we shouldn't. 6 - 10 and maybe 7 - 9 is about the way I see it.

  • Sorry buddy, but they have better atheletes than us and they can actually play the game i.e. shoot, dribble, pass, and rebound. We are not only hard to watch, but at this point it's almost impossible to watch. I love basketball and enjoy watching it but they way we play is sad. Hope Horn can get it turned around because it would be nice to have a team that can compete with the better programs in the SEC

    They can play the game better but that does not make them more athletic which is my point. You take ours guys and their guys off the basketball court and we can compete with them as athletes in some other activity. I know this seems to be a stupid argument because basketball is what they were recruited to play and teams like KY are a much better basketball team without question. I'm just saying our guys can compete as athletes and can actually win if we get hot shooting the ball and they would also have to be cold. However, you could take a team with a bunch of slow guys that can't jump or run and they would never beat a team like KY no matter how many times they played.

    I see what you're saying, and we matched up pretty well athletically with Ohio State. However, Kentucky is more athletic than Ohio State, and much more athletic than us. Kentucky is not a good match-up for this team, IMO.

    Hopefully I will eat crow on this later

    I would have to say I disagree with you completely. Athleticism only goes so far in basketball. There are plenty of teams that are extremely athletic and are awful. If you are not good at basketball you are not good at basketball. Look at Duke most years. They are typically not very athletic but loaded with shooters and good basketball players. Also, did you happen to watch the NCAA tournament. Northern Iowa (not very athletic) beat Kansas. I would take a less athletic more basketball savvy team any day of the week. I like the positive feeling towards our basketball team but I think it is a little far fetched.

  • I would not be surprised in the slightest if we are Competitive in this game.......This team is not the same team that lost to Elon and Tenn St...........We've got everybody accounted for, Everybody Healthy, and We are almost halfway through the season......We've gotten Smarter, We're more efficient, Better on Defense, and the most critical thing, We are not intimidated, and have some confidence in ourselves......We've faced some good teams the first half of the season and though we lost, we competed and Fought through the games.......Don't turn your back on this team, they just might surprise you.....

  • I would like to apologize to our basketball team. Obviously the KY and FL players and coaches saw my original post and spent extra time preparing for you just to prove me wrong. I should have never warned them. It has nothing to do with the fact you shoot 30% from the floor and play defense like you have 3 guys on the floor. Again I apologize.
