Any ? Petrino Should Be Fired

  • I find it morally reprehensible that there is even a debate about whether or not Petrino should be fired. He betrayed both his family and employer. He is the head coach at a public university and a role model for his players. If course, after the way he treated Louisville and the Falcons I guess we shouldn't be surprised at Petrino's selfishness and indifference towards others.

  • no way he is saved... he embarrassed the school and he lied... ethically no way...

we will now see if it is all about winning or not

  • Something similar lead to the demise of Houston Nutt. I will be very surprised if he is allowed to stay.

  • Is it embarrassing, yes, what are you going to fire him for.....lack of moral conduct......hiring your girlfriend......she has a very legitimate job with respect to recruiting weekend coordination. I think you fine him and put him on some sort of probation.

Glad the self righteous are out in force. Hope you never make a mistake. I do think the hiring of her may be the final straw for his dismissal, but I would hope you wouldn't take such joy at the frailty of man.

  • It's all about winning, and money and he wins. $4M dollar contract will be expensive to buy out plus they would have to hire a high profile coach to replace him. Doesn't make financial sense, doesn't make on the field sense so I doubt it happens. I concur with all the "He's a scumbag and should be fired" I just don't think he will

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

self righteous? wow that is rich... guess it is cool to lie to an employer and save your job eh?

what a sad world this has become then

  • I don't think he deserves to be fired. We should stop with the holier than thou act, didn't Joe Morrison act similarly? The guy deserves a second chance.

He had an affair with a woman who worked under him. This is not even taking into account that he hired a woman that he was having an affair with. That is a state job, if you cannot see the legal reasons to fire him, then I won't explain them to you.

I don't think its a matter of opinion. He committed an egregious act of sexual harassment, and the courts will have a field day because of the following catch-22.

If you keep him, what are you going to do with her? You cannot keep her. Are you going to keep him and fire her? If so, UA will soon be named after her.

Also, her fiancee works at arky, what are you going to do with him?

This is too big of a mess to try to keep him. bobby lied to his boss, the fans, and his team. He will have trouble gaining the respect of his team, much less recruits.

That being said, arky knew something bad would happen when they hired him. They already sacrificed morals when they hired one of the most selfish coaches CFB has seen recently.

It was found out Morrison was having an affair after he died. He wasn't given the chance to lie to his bosses.

I don't think they have to buy him out. I think ESPN said Arkansas can terminate him with no cost.

  • I think that the final decision will not rest with the AD. This has to be a decision from the University President.

Petrino has embarrassed the university, lied to his boss, hired a person he has been having an affair with.

What happens to Petrino's mistress if he is not fired? What happens to her if he is fired? What happens to her fiance if Petrino is retained? Are there any current law suits ongoing at the university regarding hiring practices? Are there any sexual harrassment lawsuits going on at the University? If he is retained, it sets a legal precedent at the University and many future lawsuits may be affected by this decision. All of these questions will have to be handled by the University and the lawyers. The AD will make his recommendation, but the decision is above him.

If this were the case of one man and woman having an affair, he would obviously keep his job. Betraying your spouse does not get you fired

In a state job, however, sleeping with an employee is an automatic firing. Hiring your mistress for a job with you being the supervisor, embarrassing the university, lying to your boss, etc., are all contributing factors. I think the President of the University will have to fire him. It's certainly an expensive lesson for Petrino. I am also sure that this man has few friends to console him.

  • He has to be fired. What about the cop who met him away from the scene and drove him to the hospital?

    Zenupe13

  • he does not have to be fired, that's crazy. I don't care that he was having a affair. so many of you want him fired just because you think it will make it easier for SC to win. Stop trying to pass your morals onto others

Both. Plus lying to his employer.
