We didn't use to care about things like that, but now we can be choosy, even when it comes to 4* talent...

if we ran a simple system i would say, yes, we should have went after him. Most players seem to take a while to Pick up SOS system, and JUCO players usually aren't the fastest learners. Think the coaches made the right call.

There are other things to consider than talent. I am sure the coaches made a good decision after considering "other things." I think the staff has shown the ability to make wise decisions on recruits.

I am continually amazed how much our obviously uninformed fan base continues to question one the best coaches and staff in college football.

So our staff never misevaluates or makes a mistake in recruiting? They are that good that no one should even consider the possibility that they missed on someone?

Really never been a fan of juco's unless they fill a huge need. They are very risky from an academic standpoint and for some an attitude standpoint. Also the competition in juco's is marginal at best so a lot come in with inflated ego's due to poor competition rather than actual ability. I think you will see more juco's now due to the 4 year scholarship rule as it lowers the bust risk, meaning a 2 year juco's bust is not as great as a 4 year high school bust, but I still don't want to see the 5-10 juco's a year like we did with holtz.

It's a close call. On one hand he appeared to be an upgrade to our existing WRs. On the other I can't think of any JUCO WRs that have made impacts in offenses like ours. I'll also be the first to admit that I have 1/100 th of the knowledge that the folks making the decision have.

Half of the staff wasn't the staff before this year.

We have more attrition than normal, which is why they sign 30 or so often.

Maybe, but I wouldn't say that javon bell is more likely to fill that need next year than shamir j., kj Brent,k smith, d Byrd, j fuller or Roland.
