Anybody else think it was a mistake passing on Javon Bell?

  • After watching the spring game I think the potential is there at wr. But it's just potential at this point, and javon bell has just as much potential if not more than any of them, so I wouldn't have had a problem with us signing him over some of the guys we did sign.

As far as the guys we signed last year, shaq is someone you take no matter what, I would have preferred to take Davis as our jump ball possession receiver bc from the film I saw he plays the ball better in the air, uses his body better, and catches it away from his body better. Kwinton smith has a lot of athletic ability though so can't say he was a bad pick up. Fuller is a solid prospect, but bell is the same type of receiver with more potential.

We actually are quite deep at wr. Several need to mature and become players, but we have numbers and natural ability. We obviously know what ace and Bruce can do. Now we need to see if DD smith has grown up and can be relied upon, can KJ Brent do what he has done in practice, can Shamier stay healthy and prove that he is what he claims he is, and we have 3 4 star freshman coming in to boot. That is 8 guys, yet only 6 will play, yet we are questioning whether we should have taken a Juco academic risk, that's only Other offer was from Texas Tech. Get real guys, we don't have to take juco's anymore, we get high level high school guys now.

I have to agree with Kyle, and Gamecockworld here.

Bubba's tweet was just razzing Shamier for going home and missing a "voluntary" workout.

  • Does everyone still think taking a JUCO WR is a bad idea or is pursuing Rumph a genius move now?

    Player A stats: catches: 42, yards: 776, TDs: 4
    Player B: 46, 1313, 17

Whatever the coaches say today is the right answer. Also what they decided in the past is correct Also. Trust the coaches for gods sake.

However you feel about bell, WR is a huge question mark for next year, a poster earlier mentioned ace, S jeffery and shaq and said we'll be fine. Two of those guys have never played a college game and shaqs shoulder may need surgery. Ace, our best WR, has yet to catch 30 balls in a year

I agree it is a question mark, but the possible solutions are Ace Sanders, Damiere Byrd, Bruce Ellington, DL Moore, Shamir Jeffery, Shaq Roland, KJ Brent, Kwinton Smith, Jody Fuller, Deangelo Smith...

Yeah, most of those have not proved themselves, but neither has the hypothetical juco that we didn't take and ended up at Texas Tech.

Its a question mark either way.

This time last year we had "offered" and were recruiting bell. It isn't an either or thing.

Personally, I don't see the point in Juco WRs and would prefer not to take Rumph. The exception being if he doesn't count against the 23 scholarships. Or is it 22?

If taking a juco gets us around that limit, then maybe it isn't so bad.
