Are Freddi Gonzalez and Frank Wren

  • On the hot seat this year? Fans are getting restless.

  • Braves fan here and its getting close to 7 straight losses.

  • Well Mcann should have played tonight he's missed the last week because of the flu.Imo if you are getting paid that much money his ass should be playing. To answer your question Gonzalez should be fired and Wren should have been fired long ago.

  • I love when losing streaks are the GMs fault.

I wonder if Angels fans wanted their GM fired when Pujols wasn't hitting.

  • I guess it's just a coincidence that the losing streak coincides with Chipper getting hurt, Freeman having eye problems, McCann having an extended illness, Heyward hitting around .150, and Minor throwing beach balls that you and I could take deep. Surely that's Gonzalez and Wren's fault.

  • The problem with wren is he didn't make a move this past offseason. Knowing chipper would play 110-120 max yet he sat on his hands. Wren's main move in the last few years has been uggla and that's it.

He frees up 25+ million this coming year. I hope he has some sense to make a few serious moves. At least talk to Hamilton or longoria.

LOL. Hamilton or Longoria?? Where is Wren supposed to get the $ for guys like this? Liberty isn't going to give him the budget to do that. http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/salaries/_/name/atl/atlanta-braves

  • You guys are acting like the Braves organization is trying to win the World Series when that is not the case at all. They just want to be good enough to keep guys like you interested, watching on tv, and occasionally buying tickets.

Chipper 15 million Lowe 10 million Bourne 5-6 million. Sitting around 31 million right there and if I'm not mistaken Hudson is a free agent too so that's prolly another 10 million.

So yea paying longoria 18 a year isn't that far fetched

Longoria will likely get more than $18M and Hamilton will get $20M+. Additionally, do you think dumping your starting CF and second best pitcher to land one player is going to make you infinitely better? When you have a limited payroll, you need to maximize the number of quality players that you have on your roster not tie the bulk of your budget up in one player. And that's exactly what Wren will do because he has no choice.

  • Dumping your cf? Bourne has made no plans or comments of coming back. He will demand alot of money too. Braves haven't shown any interest in resigning Hudson.

If they don't turn it around and keep slipping in the east I could see them being sellers at the trade deadline.

Hopefully freeman and McCann come back soon and get this turned around.

  • Good god it's baseball, not football. There are 162 games and lots of ups and downs. If you're the type that overreacts to a week of play here and there, I don't think MLB is the right sport to be following.

Edit: I hope you're here crediting Wren/Gonzalez next time they reel off a winning streak.

Bourn's under contract through the end of the season which means they still have time to resign him IF they want. If they don't, then they'll need his $ to sign another CF unless they have someone on the farm they think is ready for the show. Either way, the point remains the same; they're not going to have the $ for Longoria or Hamilton without significantly depleting their overall resources. Wren isn't going to do that.

  • Chicken littles ITT imo.

  • When you have guys coming off the books you have to factor in raises your arbitration eligible guys will receive. McCann will make two more million, if Bourne is resigned he could double his 6.8 million, I think Prado is a FA and makes 4.7 and Heyward and Hanson will see raises from around 500k to over 2 million.

Longo is a pipe dream. The Rays hold options on him until the 2016 season. I think I would try and sell high on Freeman. a .303 obp from a 1B is awful. I still think yall should have kept Laroche. Pretty solid bet to hit 25 HRs with a decent OPS.
