Question of the day: What does it take to get kicked off the USC football team these days?

    My reply would be:

A Russian Sickle to your significant other with a towel pole? Only gets you a suspension at Clemson.

It seems to me that he and his parents felt he needed us badly.

  • It was reported that several players wasn't happy with him... what kind of affect, if any, will it have with some of the team now that he has been reinstated?

    We must need him badly!

Some of you folks really do treat these kids like meat. Maybe just maybe, SOS sees them as people and wants them to develop as player and people.

  • I'm sure Clemson fans will be all over SOS and say he only did this because of the depth issues in the secondary. I think SOS did this to help Hampton and I'm really glad SOS gave him another chance. I'm glad not because of our depth issue in the secondary, but for Hampton. I think he needs USC much more than USC needs him. If moving forward, Hampton does what he's supposed to do, this decision by SOS to reinstate him will have life long ramifications for Hampton. This is a young man who has had difficulties adjusting to structure and discipline--but, that is exactly what he needs. I may be overstating it, but this may keep him out of jail and possibly pave the way for a future in the NFL. Time will tell. JMHO

    What a joke.

Do you know all the circumstances? Or are you just speculating that his reinstatement wasn't warranted.

Either that, or the coaches felt he needed us badly.

Coaches and his parents. I don't know if the kid will make it. But if he learns from it and becomes a better person it will be better than any football game we might win or lose.

Most of us don't realize some of the backgrounds these kids come from. I don't know the circumstances but I trust Spurrier.

I remember Cory Boyd having some issues. If he had been turned back to the streets he would probably be in jail right now instead of a productive citizen. All of these situations are case by case. I wish the kid well and hope he does what he is supposed to do. He is very lucky to get another chance.

  • Clemtech radio James Terd crucifying SOS. Says he has no leverage to discipline players because of Garcia situation. Says he will lose control of team because of soft hand with Garcia..... Funny thing is there has been no mention of violence against women on Clemson campus indicating of lack of discipline there

  • Ultimately this could be a great thing for Hampton being booted and then reinstated. It certainly should be a wake up call. Regardless if you feel we should not bring him back he is still a young man with the opportunity to turn his life around and be a productive Citizen. I hope he gets it together.

  • I have no problem with SOS giving Hampton another chance. The only thing that bothers me is our staff letting too much information go public too quick. If we wouldn't have been so quick to go public with the releasing of Hampton then we wouldn't have any of the backlash that we're seeing now by letting him come back. Our staff should've kept it quite until SOS had met with his parents and ultimately decided the final outcome. But then on the other side of the coin you've got the players with facebook and twitter letting stuff go public so I'm not so sure the staff could've kept it in house.

He was a poor decision to offer as everyone else dropped him, including his high school coach. We were his only major option.

We offered because of his ability.

He related us by getting expelled from high school.

He has been a consistent problem from day one and has had last chances. We made a decision and a tough stand and backed off of it a few days later. It is a joke.

He could get a second or seventh chance at grambling or Louisville.

This is the kind of crap we tolerated and pulled in the old days for not having other options and we were losers.

He'd be better off for the firm lesson and might make more of it somewhere down the line.

He is not essential to the team. Cut him. No sense in it. It just encourages more like him.

Is life doesn't end with dismissal. Plenty of troubled kids ended up at small school and made NFL. Some shaped up.

When the parents are involved and know whats best for their child, another chance was by far the most advantageous options. Maybe the first contract did not include the parents awareness of what he needed to do the first time. in show, 'Lets not make mama mad nor disappoint her'.

They tried but Hampton put it out there via twitter, so they responded when asked. What should have they done?
