Balkman

  • How did he not beat out Josh Harrelson for a roster spot on the Knicks? Is Balkman still in the league?

  • Harrelson is an effort guy. Something Balkman is not known for.

He is not in the league anymore, no. He had so much potential. He could take over a game when he wanted to, which was, like, twice.

    You're an idiot.

Balkman had a 7 year NBA career exclusively because he was an effort guy.

His problem was he couldn't score.

    He played 7 years???

    I was thinking 3-4 tops.

And didn't he go to Denver?

I was talking about his time at USC. He was inconsistent. I never saw him play in the NBA. I like Balkman.

  • It sucks he's out the league now. I was excited when he got traded back to NY with Carmelo. Thought it would light a spark.

Do you really believe what you post or are you just that far gone and reality doesn't exist?

As usual you are clueless. Clearly you never saw him play.

    I was referring to his consistency, not my feelings on him. I never saw him play in the NBA. here is one scouts take;

Weaknesses: His biggest problem is inconsistency. There were games when he'd take over and then the next game he was no where to be found (which was HUGE in his games against Bama and then Kentucky)

Serious questions. Did you ever really watch Balkman play at Carolina ? Did you understand what you were seeing ? The guy was relentless on the boards, hustled his ass off on defense, and was a crowd favorite because of his all-out play. Not a great shooter, struggled from the line, but was an energy guy from day one. Never, never lacked effort.

Yes, I watched him at USC, and I loved him. I think people misunderstood what I said as me bashing him, which I don't do.

I was under the impression that he had a reputation of lacking intensity sometimes. I know he is as energetic as a person can get. He was inconsistent in college. I never saw him play in the NBA, I don't think. He was a lot like Lakeem Jackson is.

Maybe effort was the wrong word. Maybe intensity? Like I said, I was not speaking of my opinion of him. I was talking about what I thought was the knock on him, which was his inconsistency.

I don't bash players, and that is not what I intended to do.

When he wanted to play. A good half of the time he wasn't really to be bothered to do so. One of the biggest wastes of talent USC ever had and he was a significant reason the teams he played on underachieved.

That is your opinion, but far from reality. I sat on the first few rows many times during his career, and he went after every rebound, blocked shots, and made a huge difference in our team. During the NIT he was dominant. I know he and Dave Odom had their differences, but Balkman was a major plus on the court.

And the OPs comparison of Reynaldo Balkman to Lakeem Jackson .......... wow.

  • dave odom commented during his tenure that sometimes he just had to sit balkman down because he would get his head completely out of the game. when he was into the game he was capable of doing spectacular things. outside shooting was not normally one of them but weird rebounds leading to dashes downcourt for gymnastic worthy move to the basket

i hope that balkman invested his money wisely. seven years in the nba is worth some money. if he cant hang in the nba i am sure there will be multiple foreign teams glad to pay him a fat salary.
