WG,how is Houghton handling the apparent decreased press in deference to the new committments? Some posters seem to think he may be more of an afterthought since he committed to Horn's staff, so does he still have a viable place on the team, or will the new commits have the advantage?

If we bring in Haughton, I would be surprised if we also get Glass. They are similar players, and if no one else leaves, that would leave us only one scholarship for 2013, and we need at least 2 scholarships for next year.

Phillip can compete with Eric Smith for the point guard position.... Is this a joke? Eric Smith isnt an SEC basketball player.

Much as I try to avoid Corey millers show, the sidekick over there was saying it was probable that haughton would be released from his scholarship by mutual agreement.
Surprised me a bit as I'd not heard that before and haughton was a kid with offers and potential, I thought. Still, that did mesh with the limited contact between the parties mentioned in recent kornblut article.
Bill any insight into that situation?

I think you are mistaken. Horn took all confidence away from him by taking him out of games when he would hit 3s and also hinting that he was 2nd fiddle to Ellington. I am guessing that Martin will be able to get that confidence back in him and that he can live up to his potential. Hopefully, it isn't too late for Smith to turn it around.

I need to see a good deal of Phillip before I start annointing him as an SEC player. He has nice stats but there are reason's just like with Brenton Williams and Stephen Spinella that it is hard to find video on a kid, they are still available and commit so quickly upon getting the interest.
I certainly think Phillip can come in and compete but let's hold up on thinking he is going to be a guy who come in and makes an instant impact.

I talked to him last Tuesday and he said he was coming to USC. He is not a great shooter but is definitely quick and a good passer.

WG, are they really wanting to take another guy now?
Seems like getting a few high level players in 2013 would be better than getting as many people as possible ASAP. We all knew it was going to take a little while to turn the program around.

WG,
I noticed a player in Haughtons film #13 at guard who looked really good. I looked him up and he was a freshman at Kansas ST. His name is Angel Rodrigues and was at Dr. Krop. So I am sure Martin is very familiar with Haughton.
I really like the way Haughton plays.
